Fleet + retrieval + scale: the second enterprise foundation release

Builds on v7.79.0. Everything new is opt-in; local-first and default behavior are
unchanged. Council 3/3 after an adversarial bug-hunt that caught and closed real
defects (a Helm autoscaler collision and a latent recursion DoS) before ship.

Features

  • Fleet observability: a cross-project view of every run (status, cost,
    iteration, duration) at GET /api/fleet/runs + /summary + /runs/{id}, with a
    control-scoped cancel and a new dashboard "Fleet" panel. Built by REUSING the
    existing project registry and per-project .loki state (no new database, no k8s
    operator). Honest scope: v1 polls the shared metadata store; a Job-watching
    controller/CRD and cross-project retry are future work (cancel only today).
  • Hierarchical, structure-aware retrieval (the PageIndex pattern, native and
    optional): a table-of-contents tree over the code index and large specs plus an
    LLM-reasoning tree search, as an opt-in retrieval mode (LOKI_RETRIEVAL_MODE=tree)
    alongside the existing keyword and vector paths. OFF by default (default
    retrieval is byte-unchanged and the tree modules are not even imported on the
    default path), no new heavy dependencies, no external service, tree cache via
    the local store. Honest benchmark: on a no-LLM micro-benchmark recall is
    COMPARABLE to keyword (no improvement claimed); the structure-aware value is
    LLM-guided descent on large trees.
  • Helm scale modes (opt-in): a long-running queue-consumer Deployment with an
    optional KEDA ScaledObject (worker.mode=deployment), and a scale-to-zero,
    event-driven KEDA ScaledJob (worker.mode=serverless), alongside the default
    run-to-completion Job. Each mode's tradeoffs are documented honestly (the scale
    modes need a queue + KEDA installed + a consumer command; they are not turnkey).
    A render-time guard fails loudly on an unknown worker.mode or on enabling both
    a plain HPA and KEDA (which would thrash replicas).
  • Helm init-container repo clone (opt-in, workspace.initClone.enabled): seeds the
    /workspace volume with a repo checkout and spec before the worker runs, closing
    the empty-volume gap on a fresh install. The token is read from a Secret at
    runtime, never inlined into the manifest.
  • loki why: an actionable failure/outcome diagnosis that reads the already-captured
    run state, completion record, and handoff to explain what happened and what to
    do next (--json for the raw record). Read-only; never fabricates.
  • Enterprise identity roadmap (docs/ENTERPRISE-IDENTITY-ROADMAP.md): an honest
    current-vs-roadmap scoping of SSO/SAML, SCIM, tenant RBAC, and SOC2, with every
    shipped claim cited to a real auth function. These remain roadmap, not shipped.

Fixes

  • Packaging: the lokistore/ package (a runtime dependency of the opt-in
    object-store sync) is now included in the npm files list (it was omitted in
    v7.79.0, so enabling a cloud backend on an npm install would have failed to
    import).
  • Helm: the worker image tag now follows Chart.appVersion (single source of
    truth) instead of a literal that had drifted to a stale version.
  • Hardening from the bug-hunt: tree builders cap nesting depth and the tree-cache
    deserializer rejects a pathologically deep forged cache (no recursion DoS); the
    manifest fingerprint uses a collision-free encoding; the fleet cancel verifies a
    pid still belongs to the project before signaling it (never kills a stale-reused
    pid) and the Cancel button confirms first.
