This is a keyboard I made for myself after Matias discontinued my favorite keyboard (FK308PC). I could not find a reasonable replacement, so I decided to just make my own.
The goals were:
- Tenkeyless, but otherwise standard layout.
- As low profile as possible.
- As quiet as possible.
- Single color static dim backlight.
- Minimal or no space between Escape and F-keys.
- Firmware I control, so I could modify it as needed.
I'm using Gateron KS-33 Low Profile Silent 2.0 Switches. The keyboard is built around NCA9555PW I/O externders and Atmel SAM D11 MCU.
Top and bottom plates are laser cut stainless steel. The sides of the case and finger rest are 3D-printed.
USB cable is captive. This minimizes the envelope and gets overall cleaner design.
Basic mouse emulation is supported. I'm not sure if it would be useful at all, but it was easy to add, so why not? If I find it useful, I'll adjust the behaviour.
Same thing with macros. There is a very basic support, mostly because I had an unused key from the F-Keys being compressed.
