DraftKey 0.1.50

Fixes the paragraph you just finished staying unfixed when you press Return or Shift+Return right away to start a new one.

  • In message boxes in Arc, Chrome, the Claude app and ChatGPT, the paragraph above is now fixed after a quick Shift+Return or Return, the same as in Notes or Mail. These apps reported the cursor at the start of the message, so DraftKey never looked at what you had just typed.
  • After fixing a paragraph above, your cursor stays where you were typing. It could be left inside a word in these apps when they were slow to respond.
  • A whole sloppy paragraph is fixed, not just its last few words: an app that is briefly busy now gets another try instead of the rest of the fixes being dropped.
  • Names and words run together are no longer cut down to a shorter word ("draftkey" is not changed to "drafty").
  • "Finish setup" no longer appears once your license, permissions and writing engine are all in place, and the setup walkthrough, which ends on the purchase page, no longer opens at launch when your license is active. It could look as if you had been signed out; you had not.
  • After buying, DraftKey asks once where you heard about it. Answering is optional and can be skipped; only your answer and the app version are sent, never your license or your writing.

DraftKey 0.1.48

Fixes DraftKey quitting while you type. 0.1.47 could still quit when fixes, suggestions and the correction pill appeared and disappeared in quick succession. These pieces are now drawn as still pictures, so they look and behave exactly as before (click to undo, hover, tooltips, the working spinner) without triggering the crash.

This release also includes 0.1.47's extra look that catches typos hiding in mostly clean text, and 0.1.46's fixes for lines above the cursor and the writing model under memory pressure.

DraftKey 0.1.47

Catches the typos that hide in mostly clean text. After fixes land, DraftKey takes one or two more quick looks at your sentence, so a word like "stil", easy to miss among other mistakes, gets fixed once the rest reads cleanly. It never re-checks text it has already looked at, and it stops as soon as you type again.

This release also includes 0.1.46's fixes: no more quitting after fixes land, lines above the cursor fixed after you press Return, and the writing model staying on under moderate memory pressure.

DraftKey 0.1.46

Fixes a crash. DraftKey could quit on its own right after applying fixes, which looked like it fixed a couple of words and then stopped. Its floating panels no longer trigger the layout loop that caused it.

Fixes now reach every line you write. When you press Return and keep going, DraftKey returns to the lines above once you pause and fixes them too, instead of leaving them as typed.

The last word gets fixed as well. When you stop on letters that can't become a word, such as "fsat", DraftKey treats the word as finished after a moment.

On Macs with 12 GB of memory or more, the writing model keeps working when macOS reports moderate memory pressure, and pauses only when memory is critically low. Before, it often stepped aside and left only the spell checker, which is why some fixes seemed to be missing.

Swapped letters are read as swapped: "wnat" becomes "want", not a different word that is merely close. A word DraftKey has just fixed isn't changed again by a later pass, and a slower model answer no longer brings back a typo that was already fixed.

DraftKey 0.1.45

Automatic fixes arrive sooner. DraftKey keeps the local model ready and reuses its instructions between checks. Paragraphs are checked sentence by sentence, so one confusing sentence no longer holds back the fixes in the others. A real word that is clearly a slip in context, such as "fps" for "fix", is corrected only when a second check agrees.

After automatic fixes, a small chip shows what changed. Press Control + Option + Z to take them back. You can turn the chip off in Settings.

End a message with /shorter, /clearer, /warmer, /formal, /casual or /fix and a space to rewrite it in place. Control + Option + Z undoes it.

DraftKey can learn your usual typos and the words you want left alone, on this Mac only. Undo a fix or type a word back, and it is left alone next time. Both lists are in Settings.

Take just the next word of a suggestion with Option + Right Arrow, or Option + Shift + Right Arrow when Option + Right Arrow accepts the whole suggestion. Fix before sending, off by default, holds Return for a fraction of a second so the last fixes land before a message goes.

DraftKey 0.1.44

On macOS 26 and later, Professional, Friendly, Casual, Shorter and Clearer use Apple's on-device model when Apple Intelligence is available. Your writing stays on your Mac, and DraftKey's downloaded model remains the fallback.

Professional rewrites now give respectful, direct wording instead of only expanding contractions, and a definite point no longer turns into a hedge. Try again keeps your original text and no longer stacks duplicate previews.

Insert is more reliable when your editor is slow to come back to the front. DraftKey waits for the original app, returns focus to the original field, checks that the text has not changed, and then applies one edit. It never writes into a different field.

This release includes the unpublished 0.1.42 and 0.1.43 improvements. Tap Command + Option together and release to open Writing tools.

DraftKey 0.1.41

Writing tools gives your preview more room. Tone, length and comparison controls are together under Adjust. Describe a change when you need it; Insert stays visible beneath the editable result.

Shorter, Longer and custom refinements continue to work when the panel’s request field owns focus. Insert returns to the captured editor, verifies the original text, and applies one edit. Supported Chromium editors use paste delivery, including paragraph breaks, with clipboard restoration. A changed original is never silently overwritten.

Automatic spelling and grammar cleanup now checks complete preceding paragraphs within the bounded 4,000-character writing context. Paragraphs are checked separately, so blank lines are preserved. Earlier paragraphs are no longer skipped just because you started a new one.

DraftKey 0.1.40

Writing tools now uses native Liquid Glass on macOS 26 and later, with a dark material fallback on earlier versions of macOS.

The empty composer is smaller and simpler: one quiet header, one prompt, and a send button. The action menu puts your request first, followed by compact writing choices. Rewrites keep the editable preview, tone controls, and Insert together without oversized cards or nested borders.

The title area remains draggable. Tap Command + Option together and release to open Writing tools.

This release also includes the unpublished 0.1.39 improvements: original/change comparison, correct labels on retained previews, and checks that reject inadequate Longer results. Some short texts still need a custom request describing what to add.

DraftKey 0.1.38

  • Recover severely mistyped words that ordinary spelling suggestions and the first sentence pass miss, using nearby text and bounded dictionary candidates.
  • Reject new unrecognized spellings in automatic grammar edits. Focused repairs must be recognized words and pass a contextual confirmation.
  • Keep validated corrections when a repeated typo or a rejected paragraph rewrite would previously hide them.
  • Preserve deliberate manual reversals. Tap Command + Option together and release for the dark, movable Writing tools panel.

DraftKey 0.1.37

  • Writing tools has a compact, dark translucent panel, quieter controls, and a top grip for dragging it anywhere on screen.
  • The panel stays open through dragging, screenshots, and temporary focus changes. Finished previews remain available; inserting still requires the original, unchanged editor.
  • See the captured text directly, or ask “What did I type?” for an immediate read-back without a model request.
  • Ambiguous spelling guesses wait for sentence context. Changes between real words require a confirmation pass, with closer dictionary spellings considered before distant replacements.
  • Professional, Friendly, Polish, Shorter, Longer, and Clearer remain one-click actions. Tap Command + Option together and release to open Writing tools.
