I haven't forgotten this. I'm going but I do see things that bothers me but I need to find appropriate scenarios, but I haven`t has to look into it lately. But I have noticed some tweaks, the pointer being of of them. The funny thing is that the pointer on W11 is different than what I see on ubuntu. |

I don't want to raise the point as a bug because I have to take into account the hardware I'm using. I did compare the behavior DT 5.6 to check the difference. My understanding is that there has been a lot of changes to the Mask & Blending module.
Creating the shapes is not too bad. It's when you start editing them that things get "choppy". As an example, when I displace a shape it moves in steps ans I see, what seems to be the entire pipeline, recalculation. It's the same thing when I want to change the opacity, move a node, rotate/bend a grading or change the feathering, etc.
On my, more capable PC running W11, I can see the recalculation happening but since it is a faster machine the overall responsiveness is smoother. Since I really have to take into account the impact of my laptop running ubuntu 24.4 I went to DT and played with the masks on the same photo. Overall it is smoother.
I do see the "working" word on my screen (recalculation) and a lag before the yellow mask appears. But I noticed that the "working" word doesn't necessarily appear when I'm moving the shape/nodes, etc. but only when I stop doing what I am trying to do (align the shape to what is on the screen). Yeas there is a lag in the displaying of the mask but hat is OK as the key point in this example is the placement of the outline of my shape. At first I don't really need to see the mask itself as I roughly know how it looks.
Note that it doesn't matter if the "show mask" is on or off.
I've been waiting for a while to document this. Overall I am really surprise at the responsiveness of Ansel on this laptop (Ubuntu) but the Masking as been "frustrating" since I start watching it 2 years ago. In the end the answer could be a "that's the implementation approach that has been decided" but I really wonder if it is the case.
No rush to provide to provide as it doesn't prevent me from working on other modules.
