Linux flatpak package

Hi,

Does the flatpak packaging is considered in visible future? I'd like to use Ansel but prefer flatpak package since this is the only more or less secure way installing package in the distro. Since darktable was packaged [1] in flatpak since quite a long time I think it is mostly a matter of renaming stuff in existing darktable manifest on flathub to make an ansel package

There are number of advantages over AppImage, most notable are:

1. Flatpak is more secure: strong sandboxing by default using bubblewrap and portals. Apps have restricted access to the system (files, devices, network) unless explicitly granted permissions. This improves security and isolation, especially for untrusted apps.
2. Excellent update management through flatpak update or stores like Flathub. Centralized ecosystem with one main large repository (Flathub) makes discovery and updates easier
3. Generally better desktop integration, theming, and access to system features via portals.

AppImage for simplicity, true portability, no dependencies on runtimes, and "just run it" convenience.
Flatpak for better security (sandbox), updates, integration, and a polished ecosystem. It's generally preferred and has broader modern adoption.
