Work Ledger v1
The first public release of Work Ledger: a free starter for projects that continue across many AI conversations. It keeps source material, reusable understanding, decisions, open questions and task records in a folder you control.
Download work-ledger-v1.zip below and follow START-HERE.md inside it. Use the named ZIP rather than GitHub's automatic “Source code” downloads, and extract it into a new folder.
Included:
- Setup instructions for Claude Desktop Code/Local and Codex Local in the ChatGPT desktop app on Windows and Mac.
- A five-choice setup card, reviewed file intake and a separate opt-in for saving ordinary completed tasks.
- Plain-text records and local Git checkpoints, with no bundled executable or background service.
Development has included testing with both assistants. This first public release invites feedback from people putting it to work on their own projects.
Local saves do not upload the ledger or enable remote backup. Your selected AI provider processes material through its app. Setup does not authorize connected services, sending or publication. Keep a backup and use one writing conversation per folder. Moving an existing ledger to this release is separate work.
