WinXclipse v0.8.6
WinXclipse v0.8.6
This release expands the foundation introduced in WinXclipse v0.8.5, with a focus on external downloads, Xclipse drivers, wrapper management, BCN texture support, in-session controls, diagnostics, and HUD corrections.
What Changed Compared to v0.8.5
Downloads and External Packages
- Renamed the Contents section to Downloads.
- Added remote Xclipse driver discovery through the ExynosTools and MdiEx releases.
- Remote catalogs can receive new files without requiring a new APK build.
- Added custom wrapper installation from a local file or an HTTP/HTTPS URL.
- External wrappers can be provided as .tzst, .tstz, .tzts, .zst, or a direct .so library.
- Users choose the wrapper name during installation, producing entries in the Wrapper-Name format.
- Displayed names for Wine, Proton, drivers, and other content preserve more of the original filename while hiding packaging suffixes.
- The last successfully loaded remote catalog remains cached when a refresh fails.
Xclipse Drivers
- Replaced the inherited Qualcomm/Adrenotools infrastructure with an Xclipse-oriented driver manager.
- Preserved external driver installation support.
- Previously installed compatible packages are safely migrated to the new directory without automatically deleting their original files.
- Added active GPU renderer detection and recognition for the Xclipse family, including Xclipse 920, 940, and 950.
- Removed bundled Adreno and Turnip drivers that are not applicable to Xclipse GPUs.
BCN, ASTC, and ETC2
- Replaced the BCN layer with the Leegao implementation.
- Ported the complete layer activation flow, including validation of the library and Vulkan manifest before use.
- Added the Mali reference wrapper as a separate Wrapper-BCN option while preserving the existing Wrapper.
- Compatible wrappers use their native BCN controls; other bundled and user-installed wrappers use the shared Leegao compute layer.
- Added automatic/full emulation, compute/software selection, cache control, ASTC transcoding, and ETC2 transcoding.
- Kirimu uses its software BCN path, while ASTC and ETC2 use the Mali-compatible Leegao layer independently of the selected wrapper.
- The Leegao layer is activated only after its library and Vulkan manifest are verified.
- Stale or incomplete layer files are removed so they cannot interfere with native wrapper BCN handling.
- Bundled and user-installed wrapper replacements are re-applied when their revision changes.
- ASTC and ETC2 remain disabled by default to avoid unexpected compatibility or image-quality changes.
Runtimes and Defaults
- Updated the bundled Box64 package to 0.4.3-260519-024717c.
- Removed the older bundled Box64 packages.
- Set FEXCore 2608 as the default version.
- Removed the bundled FEXCore 2505 and 2507 packages.
- Added DXVK 1.11.1 Sarek.
- Removed DXVK 2.2.116 and the bundled GPLAsync packages.
- Settings, new containers, and new shortcuts start with the Compatibility FEXCore preset.
- VKD3D starts as None while remaining configurable alongside DXVK.
- Show FPS is enabled by default.
In-Session Sidebar
- Reorganized the in-session sidebar with time and battery information, pause/resume, help, terminal, and a power-style exit action.
- Grouped detailed input options under the Input menu.
- The Controller action directly enables or disables touchscreen controls, while additional options remain available through its settings action.
- Added Virtual Gamepad 2 while preserving the ability to select another default profile.
- The HUD can be enabled or disabled directly, with its configuration kept in a separate action.
- Added an in-session FPS limiter with Unlimited, 30, 45, 60, 90, and 120 FPS options.
- Frame limiting is applied during guest frame presentation instead of blocking Android's main graphics thread.
Task Manager
- Added a lightweight, expandable Task Manager to the in-session sidebar.
- Reports total CPU usage and each core's current and maximum frequency.
- Reports RAM percentage, used memory, and total memory.
- Lists processes with their name, PID, and memory usage.
- Includes actions to bring a window to the foreground, terminate a process, and select CPU affinity.
- Statistics refresh periodically without keeping a full-screen process manager open.
HUD and Telemetry
- Corrected active API detection for DXVK, VKD3D, WineD3D, Vulkan, and OpenGL.
- Corrected independent wrapper identification for Kirimu, GameNative, Leegao, LD24, and other wrapper families.
- Closing an unrelated secondary window no longer incorrectly clears the current renderer state.
- Improved battery-power reporting through real charge-counter and voltage data when exposed by the device.
Experimental Performance
- Added an opt-in Experimental Performance option for containers and shortcuts.
- The option is disabled by default and applies additional flags only when selected.
- Default rendering behavior remains unchanged.
Interface and Usability
- Improved text sizes, preset labels, and touch targets.
- Corrected additional inconsistencies between light and dark themes.
- Preserved AMOLED black, ice white, and purple accents.
- Improved numerical download and installation progress reporting.
- Preserved HUD Settings without the Graphics Enhancements panel.
Available Package Variants
'- Main: com.win.xclipse
- AnTuTu: com.antutu.ABenchMark
- Geekbench 6: com.primatelabs.geekbench6'
Providers and internal paths use the active application ID, reducing the risk of breaking controls, file access, containers, and shortcuts when using different package variants.
Updates and Existing Data
- Updating the main variant preserves the com.win.xclipse package name.
- Existing containers, shortcuts, and internal data should remain available when updating a previous build that uses the same package and signing key.
- Backing up important data before updating is recommended, especially because this remains an experimental release.
- Variants with different package names use separate Android storage and do not automatically share data with the main variant.
Status
Functionally experimental.
Behavior can vary depending on the device, GPU, driver, wrapper, runtime, container, and game. A package appearing in Downloads does not guarantee compatibility with every device.
