Lexxy dependency: Raised the engine-managed Lexxy floor to 0.9.29. Host applications do not need to add or import Lexxy themselves.
Development dependencies: Updated Brakeman to 8.0.6, SQLite to 2.9.6, and the dummy app's Vips stack to current secure versions.
Security
Active Storage variant processing: Raised the Rails floor to 8.1.3.1, which contains the fix for CVE-2026-66066, and added image_processing >= 2.0.3, < 3 as an engine runtime dependency. Vips hosts must use ruby-vips 2.2.1+ with system libvips 8.13+ so Rails can disable unsafe operations.
Fixed
CMS helper loading on newer Rails versions: Load Railspress::CmsHelper as explicit gem code instead of using the deprecated require_dependency API. This preserves the Rails 8.1 helper load-order fix, eliminates the Rails 8.2 deprecation warning, and avoids the API removal planned for Rails 9.
Upgrade Notes (target: 1.4.2)
Run bundle update railspress-engine. If Rails is directly pinned, run bundle update rails railspress-engine.
Vips hosts must verify that libvips 8.13+ is installed in every deployed environment.
No migrations, initializer changes, or host application code changes are required.
