Compatibility GL-C-017WL-D

Hi,

I wanted to ask if there are any plans for HyperK to become officially compatible with Gledopto GL-C-017WL-D.
The Changelogs mentions only the other models from Gledopto.

Reason for asking is, that it seems like the pre-installed WLED is not that great for being used with HDR Content (e.g. Playstation 5) and supposedly HyperK is much better at working with SK6812 5V

Yes, the GL-C-017WL-D should be compatible with HyperK as a standard ESP32-based controller with no Ethernet (similar to GLEDOPTO_GL_C_615WL but with more outputs and different LED GPIOs). It also has a built-in power relay/switch for the LED output, so the only important thing is to configure the correct relay GPIO in HyperK.

I would first check the pre-installed WLED configuration to confirm which GPIO is used for the power relay (it is likely GPIO18), and then configure HyperK accordingly.

So no dedicated firmware should be necessary - just the standard ESP32 build with the appropriate power-relay GPIO configuration.

I tried now the most recent beta and the stable version. Both do not seem to power on my LED Stripes.
I am using HyperHDR v21 on my LG WebOS TV. Within HyperHDR I also tried using it via "Controller Type: WLED" and "Controller Type: updraw" but both seem to not change anything. Looking at the stats of HyperK it seems to receive the effect but simply does not activate the LED Stripes.

Any idea? (I enabled the Relay Option for GPIO 18 and also inverted it).

LED Stripes are SK6812 from BTF-Lighting.

So I assume you're using version 0.0.5beta2. I suspect the cause is the power relay - without it, you won't get power at the output. The other Gledopto controllers were not inverted (WLED treats this flag the opposite of how it actually should be), so leave that unchecked and restart the device. Start by getting a static color working in the Hyperk effects (it is orange by default), and only connect to HyperHDR after that (version 22 has a dedicated driver for Hyperk).

Yes, thank you! In fact I did downgrade to 0.0.4 the stable version but nonetheless. Deactivating the Invert did the trick.
I am happy that it works eventhough I had hoped for a bit better outcome.
(Mainly: Using Playstation 5 as the Content Generator and with that also having HDR activated. This results in HyperHDR seeing it in the LED Visualization a bit more darker -> End result: The LED Stripes glow more white-ish than actually being colourful.

A red screen basically results in white (almost pink) LED colour. NV12 might be a solution to that but I tried to avoid that and had hoped that HyperK with its SK6812 RGBW compatibility would have resolved that issue.

Any upcoming changes regarding that? (Would like to not deactivate HDR on my PS5)

Anyway, a properly calibrated video stream is the most important factor, with P010 providing the best results.

For webOS, not using NV12 leads to terrible results due to incorrect coefficients being used when converting to RGB. I spent a lot of time analyzing this issue, which ultimately this led to introduce this raw format for webOS capture.
