This release marks aws-dev-toolkit as deprecated. It is no longer maintained and will be removed from the marketplace.

Where to go instead

Startup-specific guidance is available in AWS Startup Advisor:

/plugin install aws-startup-advisor@claude-plugins-official

General-purpose AWS guidance is in Agent Toolkit for AWS. Set it up in one command (requires AWS CLI 2.35+):

aws configure agent-toolkit

What this means for existing installs

Existing installs continue to function during the transition but will not receive updates. Install AWS Startup Advisor to keep receiving startup guidance and skills for AWS.

Why

aws-dev-toolkit's skills and agents are overwhelmingly general-purpose AWS engineering guidance, which Agent Toolkit for AWS now owns. That overlap is the reason for the deprecation. The startup lens belongs to AWS Startup Advisor.

No skills were ported. The skill-by-skill classification and rationale are in the awslabs/startups deprecation plan.

Changes in this release

  • Deprecation notice added to the plugin description, plugin README, and repository README (#10)
  • Version bumped to 0.4.0 so the deprecated release is distinguishable from v0.3.0 (#11)

No skill, agent, or MCP server behavior changed.
