Wirepane is a free, open-source HTTP(S) debugger for developers, QA and beginners. It captures the traffic of browsers, phones, Docker and other apps, shows it, and lets you mock, rewrite, block or delay it. It also sends requests and keeps them in collections that you can share as a file (Postman or Bruno format). No account, no paid plan.

Wirepane is built on HTTP Toolkit https://httptoolkit.com (AGPL-3.0) and uses packages from Bruno https://www.usebruno.com (MIT). It isn't the official HTTP Toolkit and isn't affiliated with it. Wirepane is AGPL-3.0 too, and all of its source is in this repository.

What's in 1.4.0

Rust Sidecar (wirepane-tunnel)

  • IKEv2 HTTP/3 Decryption Gateway: QuicGateway injection routing is now unified between WireGuard and IKEv2 frontends, enabling transparent HTTP/3 (QUIC) decryption on iOS devices connected via IKEv2 profiles.
  • IKE SA Rekeying (RFC 7296 §1.3.2): Added full IKE SA rekey support via CREATE_CHILD_SA with new nonces and Diffie-Hellman KE exchange, preserving existing Child SAs so long-running tunnels never drop.
  • Unified CoreStats & Drop Counters: Atomic packet drop and traffic shaper drop counters (packets_dropped, shaper_dropped) tracked and exposed via tunnel stats.
  • Fair-Share Queueing: DelayQueue now tracks per-peer byte and packet limits with a 75% cap, preventing a single high-bandwidth device from starving throttled connections.

Collections & Secret Storage (httptoolkit-server)

  • macOS Keychain Secret Storage: Collection environment secrets are now securely stored in macOS Keychain via /usr/bin/security under tech.httptoolkit.desktop.collections.
  • Automatic Fallback & Sync: Transparent synchronization with encrypted 0600 file storage ensures seamless migration and compatibility.

UI Polish & TLS Attribution (httptoolkit-ui)

  • TLS Handshake Failure Attribution: Failed TLS connections caused by certificate pinning now resolve their actual VPN device identity (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro) via client hello matching instead of displaying generic loopback 127.0.0.1.
  • Devices Panel Divider: Added a visual separator (TreeDivider) between pinned devices and active unpinned devices in the Devices panel.
  • Startup Fallback Link: Fixed the repository URL in the critical startup compatibility alert.

Install

This build isn't signed with an Apple Developer paid certificate yet. So macOS warns once on the first launch:

  1. Open Wirepane-1.4.0-mac-arm64.pkg.
  2. If macOS prompts that it cannot verify the developer:
    • Right-click the file → Open → Open, OR
    • Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  3. Follow the installer instructions.

Updating from 1.3.0/earlier: Open the new .pkg. It will ask you to close the running Wirepane, then upgrades the app in place. All your rules, collections, and certificates remain intact.
