[UX] Machine name autocomplete stops when using #

This is related to #3541 and similar to #3323...

Steps To Reproduce

1. Start typing something in a field that has a machine name autocomplete
2. As you type, notice the machine name being automatically generated 👍 ...
3. ...type any special characters as you go, and see them being replaced by underscores 👍
4. ...type a # at any point, and keep typing random characters

Actual behavior
Notice how the autocomplete stops working after you have typed the # 👎

Expected behavior
Machine autocomplete should work with any character typed, and #s should be replaced by underscores (same as is done for the other special characters).

I tried to reproduce it with two different browsers (Firefox, Chromium), but couldn't. It worked fine in both.

Can you provide more info, please? At least your browser name and version would be helpful.
