Small cleanup release. On Android, Todorant now asks only for the permissions it actually uses, like internet access and notifications for the planning reminder.

Fixes the first sign-in on big accounts: loading the data no longer times out and leaves only the Settings tab.

Todorant is now on F-Droid. This build has no Google code: QR codes are scanned with the open-source ZXing scanner, and you can sign in with an email and a password, Apple, Telegram or a QR code.

Todorant for Android 2.2.3 uses Android's own system font instead of Apple's SF Pro, which makes the app about 4 MB smaller. This is the build going to Google Play.

Installing: this APK updates earlier APKs from these releases in place. The Google Play build is signed by Google with a different key, so to move between this APK and the Play Store version you'll need to uninstall one before installing the other. Your todos come back from the server after you sign in.

Todorant for Android 2.2.2 fixes a crash in 2.2.1: scanning a QR code (Login with QR, or Settings → Add devices) closed the app. This is the build going to Google Play.

Installing: this APK updates earlier APKs from these releases in place. The Google Play build is signed by Google with a different key, so to move between this APK and the Play Store version you'll need to uninstall one before installing the other. Your todos come back from the server after you sign in.

Todorant for Android 2.2.1 fixes Google sign-in and is the build going to Google Play.

Installing: this APK updates 2.0.0 to 2.2.0 from these releases in place. The Google Play build is signed by Google with a different key, so to move between this APK and the Play Store version you'll need to uninstall one before installing the other. Your todos come back from the server after you sign in.

What's new:

  • Google sign-in works again: it uses Todorant's new Google sign-in client.
  • Google Calendar sync is removed: it had stopped working, so the Integrations screen is gone.

Android 2.2.0 (native)

Todorant for Android 2.2.0 adds account deletion and is the build going to Google Play.

Installing: this APK updates 2.0.0 and 2.1.0 from these releases in place. The Google Play build is signed by Google with a different key, so to move between this APK and the Play Store version you'll need to uninstall one before installing the other. Your todos come back from the server after you sign in.

What's new:

  • Delete account: Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account, todos, hashtags and settings from the server after you confirm. todorant.com/delete-account explains what's deleted, and the web app has the same button.

Android 2.1.0 (native)

Todorant for Android 2.1.0 adds your own server, email + password accounts and safer sync.

Installing: if you have 2.0.0 from these releases, this APK updates it in place. If you have the old Play Store build, it's signed with a different key, so open it once to let it finish syncing, uninstall it, then install this APK. Everything comes back from the server after you sign in.

What's new:

  • Your own server: Settings → Server (or Server at the bottom of the sign-in screen) points the app at a self-hosted Todorant. Changing it signs you out, and clearing the field takes you back to todorant.com. Setting one up is described in the self-hosting guide.
  • Email + password sign-in and account creation, shown first when the app uses a custom server.
  • Safer sync: the session token travels in a header instead of the WebSocket address, your encryption password is only sent along when Google Calendar needs it, and a long offline queue goes out in batches of 1000 changes.
  • The app asks for confirmation before "Add devices" signs in the browser that shows a scanned QR code.

Known issue: signing in with Google is temporarily unavailable; the other sign-in methods work.

The native Android rewrite of Todorant, built for testing. It syncs through the new /v2 backend, which is now live on backend.todorant.com.

Installing over the old app: the Play Store build is signed with a different key, so Android won't update it in place. Open the old app once so it finishes syncing, uninstall it, then install this APK. Your todos, tags, settings and hero points come back from the server after you sign in.

What's new compared to the React Native app:

  • Edits sync over one WebSocket as soon as you make them and show up live on your other devices; offline edits are queued and merged per field (the newer edit of each field wins).
  • Encrypted todos, delegation, epics, Google Calendar settings and hero points all sync the same way.
  • Native Kotlin/Compose UI with a widget, reminders and the onboarding tutorial.
