First public build of CallTape, a silent, on-device call recorder for macOS.

It records both sides of your cellular, FaceTime, and WhatsApp calls from the menu bar, with no beep and nothing announced to the other person. Transcripts and summaries are generated on your Mac, and nothing is uploaded.

Install

  1. Download CallTape.dmg below and open it.
  2. Drag CallTape to Applications.
  3. This build is not yet notarized, so on first launch right-click the app and choose Open, then confirm.
  4. Allow Microphone (and Full Disk Access, for call names and numbers) when asked.

Requires macOS 15 or later. Transcripts and summaries are best on Apple Silicon.
