Official Bambu Studio Flatpak on Flathub

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently Linux support isn't as straight forward and easy as it could be. With Prusa slicer now having an official Flatpak, it would be great if Bambu Studio could follow as well, to offer an easier experience updating and staying up to date while also offering the security and convenience made possible with the Flatpak distribution standard.

I would like Bambu Studio to also be distributed officially as a Flatpak on Flathub.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Appimages and traditional binary implementations exist but none are as convenient as Flatpak. I suppose a Snap could be an alternative albeit with less compatibility.

That appears to be a third party, not official. The link to donation leads to https://ko-fi.com/hadessuk, which I dont assume is something Bambulab would do.

I am looking for an official release, not third party.

Actually correction, this does appear to be linked in the readme, so I suppose I'm just confused by the donation link.

Indeed I think you're right. Its a bit weird its just a random kind soul who has done this, which makes me uncertain about its future maintenance as there has been no commitment to its continued existence should the person who implements that for whatever reason be unable to continue, but you do indeed seem correct.

I'm very curious if Bambulab considers this a supported path though, considering they dont mention it on their download page at all, and its only visible here on Github.

I suppose that might be a question for support rather than Github though, so I assume its probably reasonable to close this ticket. Maybe its also reasonable to make a ticket regarding making this more publicly available information (on the download page). Ill think about that.

Personally the containerization is exactly what I want from Flatpaks (no comment on Snaps). Anytime I can have an application containerized, I do, and I modify the permissions to my liking too. I think its a bit absurd that most applications running on most computers can have access to basically everything that a person finds valuable on their computer for in essence, no good reason.

Combine that with the complexities of software resulting in many vulnerabilities being found all the time everywhere and it just feels very unsafe. I look forward to a future where things are sandboxed by default.

I totally get your opinion though. Its always a battle between convenience and security, but I feel like Flatpaks strike a nice balance.
