gearing up for the proxy / pings, but that's a big project. will come soon.
)
v0.9.6 beta
cleanup, some fixes / ux.
What Happened:

)
v0.9.5 beta
More ux fixes, emote fixes, a bit of optimization.

- decoded emote cache freed when you leave app (cheap ram saver)
- removed extra engine spin-up when you background the app
New Features
- limerino badge
- 7tv presence updates properly
- idle emote fps slider, customizability yay
Also Fixed
- personal 7tv emotes missing on user first message
- animated emotes wrong timing until restart
- emote preview restarting animation when 2x -> 4x
- about half of 7tv paints rendering wrong (striped and radial ones)
- idle freeze now pauses twitch gifs too
- battery saver properly caps emote fps
- versioncode jump to 410 for f-droid
Smaller patch this time
)
v0.9.4 beta
moderate improvements, mainly tiny details in ui and a few accessibility improvements.
new:
- mod view is better now (less buggy), fixes in ux
- mod status updated live
- custom compact layout instead of 2 presets
- adaptive emote fps (cap 60, so it doesn't drain your battery on 120fps screens)
polish:
- add IME send button
- fix input bar look on iOS, and in general (liquid glass)
- fix fullscreen / input bar hide animation, and ui regarding it in general
- fix liquid glass consistency
fixes:
- autocomplete updates properly if you leave a channel
- twitch emotes "created by" removed
- anonymous chat redirects in ermchat-server backend
that's all for now, just tiny nitpicks.
)
v0.9.3 beta
small bug fixes + CI fixes.
New:
- compact layout for small phones
- username overhaul (easier to tap) - tried to add double tap to copy but will fix in next release
fixed:
- keyboard no longer closes immediately
- fixed webview streams on iOS
- fixed invisible char stripping for wrapping text and copying msgs
- top bar / input bar animate smoothly
- input bar glow works fine now
)
v0.9.2 beta
v0.9.1 beta
Some UI / UX fixes mainly. I fixed a couple bugs and streamlined emotes and keyboard and whatnot.
What Happened:
Architecture / Correctness Fixes
- fix slow mode countdown
- fix thread tab
- fix recently used emotes populating logic
- optimize emote loading
- optimize liquid glass loading
- fix inline text fallback for non-loaded emotes
- fix chat pause behaviour + make it more optimized
New Features
- make liquid glass more polished
- replying to widget looks better
- edit channels in channel list
- #channel shows up in mentions
- input bar glow
- add (experimental) link to proxy backend - does not have a backend up yet
- badge info
Also Fixed
- optimize user card history (defer load)
- low ram setting for img cache
- optimize 7tv name paints
- optimize message rows
- skip double emote rebuild
- reduced per-message work / rebuilds
It's (again) a rather large patch, and I would probably call it v0.10.0 if it wasn't for the rather lacking front-end updates / new features.
)
v0.9.0 beta
Mainly churn behind the scenes, large correctness / performance upgrades, and many things fixed. it's far more stable now, and code is better quality.
What Happened:
Architecture / Correctness Fixes
- chat diff works correctly (unloaded messages now resolve with correct emotes)
- emotes unified into one hub, stream emotes from decoder instead of storing in memory (big memory savings!)
- fix where emotes are sorted in emote menu
- refactor chat pipeline completely, to ensure consistency and clean out persistent bugs
- fix autocomplete revert
- fix performance bug (gets very laggy in large channels), ground-up optimization of entire chat/emote pipeline
New Features
- (experimental!) liquid glass, go to settings/customization
- channel point redemptions from pubsub (I know it's deprecated, but it still works)
- (actually a REMOVAL of a feature): removed custom emote fps / throttling - it's actually fast enough now where it's not needed, and with tests it shows negligible perf gains
Also Fixed
- optimized keyboard lag (again, for real this time) by capping emote updates when keyboard is moving
- dedup websocket join
- fix thread update on send msg (broke last update)
- fix many memory leaks, basic fixes across the board (lots of hygiene that was cleaned up from a backlog earlier)
It may not seem like a large patch note for a release that took 10 days, but fixing code takes a lot longer than adding new features... I didn't implement the server this update, but when I get server capacity I will be able to implement the custom backend that drastically cuts on IRC data usage (~9x less!). some features did not ship because this is mainly a correctness update.
)
v0.8.0 beta
(another) big release. I really need to learn how to ship small releases. Anyway:
What Happened:
Architecture / Correctness Fixes
- refactored home screen from ~5000 to ~2000 lines, split up into new files
- optimized sub emote performance
- hardened network handling
- centralized emote parsing
- fixed sys message truncation, reduced scope of helix channel fetches
- audited tests
New Features
- Stream player with picture in picture (webview, not polished but it works!)
- Mod view - instead of commands, you can click buttons (worse than twitch mod view, difficulties with the API)
- threads panel - save threads, view active threads, keep threads alive when you keep it open
- chat search - search by user or text. still doesn't support from:user yet
- user card upgrade: new user messages feature below user card
- more emote compatibility - personal 7tv emotes, global unlockable emotes supported
- split links upgraded, normal link parsing upgraded
- new anonymous account in acc switcher
- gif support! (giphy, read only)
- image hosters can embed into chat
- general UI/UX improvements
Also Fixed
- optimized keyboard lag, made it more smooth
- sub emotes refetch better
- smarter throttle (before, throttle stopped fps after a # of emotes)
- reply whitespace collapsed
- lots of mem leaks fixed
BIG feature drop instead of just fixing bugs. this new list of features is going to surface a whole lot of new bugs though... bugfixes will be on the way
)
v0.7.5 beta
I SHIPPED A REGRESSION IN PROD!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway crisis averted
)
