v0.4.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 16:50
  • Security: jsonwebtoken 10.4, which byom uses to check the ChatGPT sign-in token, fixes a type confusion that could let a malformed token pass validation.
  • Requests to OpenRouter name byom as the app (HTTP-Referer, X-Title).
  • Install with Homebrew: brew install baoengineer/tap/byom.

v0.4.1

  • Claude Code's tool search stays on when the main model is Claude, so Claude requests list MCP tools on demand instead of all at once (about half the prompt in a measured headless call). Other providers never receive the tool search tools.
  • byom models lists ChatGPT models added to your account after the cached roster was built.
  • The request log records cache writes as well as cache reads.
  • byom stop refuses while sessions are using the bridge (requests in the last ten minutes) unless --force, since stopping it leaves open sessions with "connection refused". byom restart replaces the bridge in place, for upgrades.
  • Claude Code's flags pass straight through: byom --resume <id>, byom -c, byom -p "...", and byom run <model> --continue without --.
  • A local model server that isn't running (Ollama, LM Studio) shows as offline in byom models, is left out of the session, and fails at once with a clear error that Claude Code does not retry.
  • byom's per-model agents get Claude Code's built-in tools only, without MCP tools, which keeps each request to another provider much smaller.
  • When OpenAI closes the WebSocket before a response has produced anything, byom reconnects once and resends the turn instead of returning an API error to Claude Code.
  • With Claude models available, a non-Claude main model no longer pins the session's compaction window to its own size, which made Claude models compact over and over after switching in /model.

v0.4.0

Renamed to byom, and the Claude relay is opt-in.

  • byoclaude is now byom ("bring your own model"): the binary, crate, ~/.byom (copied from ~/.byoclaude on first run), BYOM_HOME, BYOM_PORT, the x-byom-key header and byom: agent names.
  • The Claude relay is off by default. Turn it on with byom config set relay true; the README explains Anthropic's terms first. A saved Anthropic API key now makes Claude models available without the relay, and a signed-in Claude Code's own credential takes precedence over it.
  • Security: API keys are re-read on every request, so logout and new keys apply to a running bridge; requests carrying keys do not follow redirects; providers other than the Claude relay receive only an allowlist of headers; pasted keys are stored as typed and never run.
  • Chat Completions providers: a stream cut off before finishing is an error instead of a finished turn, and parallel tool calls no longer merge.
  • Non-object JSON bodies get a 400 instead of failing the request handler.
  • Teams: byom config set teams true turns on Claude Code's agent teams, and each teammate can run on a different provider through its byom agent. byom sessions keep teammates in-process so they reach the bridge.
  • 0.3.0 was tagged briefly and withdrawn; its panels feature was removed before release.
