v0.1.0 beta
Pre-releaseFirst beta of MouseDriver, an unofficial macOS menu-bar app for the Amkette XS Flow (Plus) mouse. It isn't affiliated with Amkette.
It needs macOS 14 or later and runs on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
What works
Tested over Bluetooth on a real XS Flow Plus:
- Button remapping. You can remap middle, back and forward to keyboard shortcuts, Mission Control and Spaces, media keys, other mouse buttons, opening an app or URL, or running a shell command. The original click is swallowed.
- Scrolling settings for this mouse only. You can reverse the wheel or change its speed, and your trackpad keeps its own settings.
- Per-mouse tracking speed and per-app profiles.
- Battery level in the menu bar.
- Reconnects on its own after the mouse sleeps.
Wheel tilt and the DPI button can't be remapped because the mouse never reports them to the Mac.
Experimental: off by default
Onboard settings (DPI, polling rate, lighting, sleep timer, onboard button map) need the 2.4G dongle or USB cable. These write to the mouse's memory and haven't been tested on a real dongle yet. If you have the dongle and want to help test, see the README. Please report what happens.
Install
- Download
MouseDriver-0.1.0.zip, unzip it, and move MouseDriver.app to Applications. - Open it. macOS will say it can't verify the developer, because this beta isn't notarized yet. Click Done, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway.
- When the app asks, grant these permissions:
- Input Monitoring: lets the app see which button you pressed on the XS Flow, so it can tell it apart from your trackpad.
- Accessibility: lets the app replace that click with the action you chose.
- Bluetooth: only used to read the battery level.
The app never records or sends keystrokes anywhere. It has no network code of its own. The "Open URL" action just passes the link you set to your browser. The full source is in this repo, so you can check that, or build it yourself with ./scripts/bundle.sh.
flowctl-0.1.0.zip contains the optional command-line tool. Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.
Known issues
- If another mouse is connected at the same time, its wheel and extra buttons get the XS Flow's settings too. This will be fixed in the next version.
- Installing on a Mac that has never run the app hasn't been tested yet. If the permission steps don't match what you see, please say so.
Feedback
Please open an issue with your macOS version, how the mouse is connected (Bluetooth or dongle), and what you expected to happen.
