v0.11.1
v0.11.0: fast times and the Omer
- Fast times: the minor fasts (Tzom Gedaliah, Asara B'Tevet, Ta'anit Esther, 17 Tammuz) now run from dawn to nightfall, and Tisha B'Av from sunset the evening before (after havdalah when it is postponed to Sunday) to havdalah. New options: when minor fasts begin (dawn at 16.1°, the default, or 72 / 90 minutes before sunrise) and end (nightfall for fasts at 6.45°, the default, or the havdalah setting). Fast start times match hebcal.com. Behaviour change: fasts on the holidays calendar and in the calendar link are timed events now, no longer all-day; an automation that relied on them being all-day needs a look.
- New entities:
sensor.good_days_next_fast(start of the current or next fast, including Yom Kippur; attributesend,title,in_effect...),binary_sensor.good_days_fasting(on while fasting) andsensor.good_days_omer(day 1-49 of the Omer, moving on at nightfall; attributesweeks, days, the counting sentence intext,next_count,counted). - Shabbat timers on fast days: "Applies to" has Fast days; on a fast, "candle lighting" means when it begins and "havdalah" when it ends. New preset Breaking the fast (urn / kettle on 30 minutes before the fast ends, off an hour after; fast days and Yom Kippur). A clock time on a minor fast stays on that day.
- Omer reminder (opt-in, off by default): every night of the Omer, at nightfall plus your offset, to the reminder targets, with the counting sentence and a Counted button (
good_days_omerevent; the Omer sensor'scountedattribute lets an automation remind again). With "no reminders during Shabbat and Yom Tov", a Shabbat / Yom Tov night is announced an hour before candle lighting, and the night after it comes after havdalah. - Card: a fast in progress counts down to its end ("ends in 1:12"); fast rows show when they begin and end; during the Omer a line shows today's count (card option
show_omer, on by default). WSgood_days/upcomingreturnsomer. - Assist: "What's the Omer count?" / "כמה בעומר היום?" and "When does the fast end?" / "מתי נגמר הצום?" (new sentences in
docs/assist).
v0.10.0
- Own location and times per card: the card editor has "Own location and times for this card": a map pick plus optional candle lighting, havdalah and one / two-day Yom Tov. Anything left empty follows the integration; only that card changes (sensors, timers, reminders and Assist keep the integration's settings). WS
good_days/upcomingtakeslatitude,longitude,candle_lighting,havdalah,diaspora; the server computes those windows separately and keeps the last few in a small cache.
v0.9.0
- Responsive card: the card measures its own width and shows less when it is narrow. Medium (280-399 px) drops category icons, haftarah lines under rows and the repeat of the next Shabbat below its summary box. Narrow (under 280 px) also drops Hebrew dates and secondary notes, moves the countdown onto the time line and lists at most
narrow_limitevents (default 3). Tapping a row still shows everything. New card optionsresponsive(default on) andnarrow_limit, both in the visual editor. Sections view: the card can be resized down to 3 columns.
v0.8.0
v0.7.1
- The sidebar title follows the "Event names language" option: "Good Days" or "ימים טובים" ("Same as Home Assistant" uses the system language, as before). Home Assistant shows one sidebar title to all users, so it cannot follow each user's own language.
v0.7.0
- Haftarah for every Shabbat with a weekly parasha, in the calendar event, card details, calendar subscription and the next-Shabbat sensor (
haftarahattribute, WebSockethaftarahfield). New option: Ashkenazi or Sephardi / Edot HaMizrach. Special Shabbatot, Shabbat Chanukah, Rosh Chodesh, Machar Chodesh and the special cases follow Hebcal's rules; checked against Hebcal for every Shabbat 2024-2040, Israel and abroad. - A Shabbat right before or after Yom Tov (for example Shabbat Shuva right after Rosh Hashana, or Shabbat HaGadol before Pesach) now keeps its parasha and special Shabbat. Its description names the parasha, and Assist names the holiday when it tells the Shabbat / Chag times.
- Haftarah in the card: a "Haftarah: ..." line under each Shabbat and in the next-Shabbat box (card option
show_haftarah, on by default, in the visual editor) (#39). A Shabbat that runs together with Yom Tov labels it "Shabbat haftarah" (#40). A special reading that replaces the weekly one is marked, e.g. "(Machar Chodesh)", "(Shekalim)", "(Shabbat Chanukah)"; the label never wraps away from its citation (#43). WebSocket items addhaftarah_label; thehaftarahfield and sensor attribute include the mark. - Haftarah custom: new installs default to Sephardi / Edot HaMizrach; installs from before v0.7 keep Ashkenazi and the options dialog shows it. The option explains that the customs differ on about one Shabbat in four (#41).
- Shabbat timers: the preset dialog summarises the chosen preset before you create it (on / off times, which days it applies to, and that the water heater heats only on the Erev of a multi-day Chag) (#42). Three more presets: electric water heater (on at noon on Erev Shabbat / Chag, off before candle lighting), porch light (on before candle lighting, off at 01:00), bedroom air conditioner at night (22:00 to 06:30).
v0.6.1
v0.6.0
Fixes from a full QA cycle on a real Home Assistant (29 issues, #6 to #34).
- Shabbat timers: saving, deleting, duplicating and "run now" from the panel work again (the panel's language field was rejected) (#17). Non-admin users can no longer switch timers off, skip a Shabbat or change the profile through the entities; automations still can (#6). Targets are limited to devices that switch on and off (scripts, automations, locks, covers and valves removed); a device that cannot be switched is logged as failed, not done (#9). Several timers firing together write the store once (#14).
- Panel: view and edit another profile's timers without making it active; profiles show a timer count and can be renamed (#23). A skipped Shabbat is shown as skipped and the reset is explained (#25). Non-admins see why the timers are read-only (#26). "Run now" names what it does (#24). Two Good Days instances are told apart by name (#34). The Hebrew year accepts letters (תש״ע) (#22). Device picker, colours and long names are accessible (#11, #15, #16, #19). Faster with many family dates (#13).
- Card: keyboard focus stays in place across refreshes (#10). A clear summary of the next Shabbat / Chag with candle lighting and havdalah, readable on a wall tablet (#20). Compact mode shows the next candle lighting, not a holiday already in progress (#21). Day headers in gematria (#31). Yahrzeit rows say what the time means (#29). The editor shows the categories really in use (#28). Findable as "ימים טובים" in the card picker (#27). Merges a second Good Days instance's calendar (#33). Contrast and narrow screens (#15, #16, #19).
- Settings: the Shabbat reminder option now says reminders are sent before candle lighting (#18); reminder time without seconds and clearer units (#30).
- Robustness: reminder buttons only act on real dates (#7); NaN / Infinity inputs give a field error instead of a crash (#8); "upcoming" cuts to the limit before building items (#12).
- Hebrew in English titles: family names are isolated so they keep their order (#32). Note: sensor states such as
sensor.good_days_next_family_datenow contain invisible direction marks around names; an automation comparing that state to a plain string must strip them. - New:
sensor.good_days_next_candle_lightingstays; new websocketgood_days/entries;good_days/upcomingreturns the effectivecategories.
v0.5.0
Shabbat timers.
- New Shabbat timers tab in the panel: turn devices on / off around candle lighting and havdalah, or at a time on each holy day (every day / first / last / Erev); applies to Shabbat, Yom Tov and / or Yom Kippur; multi-day Chag + Shabbat handled as one stretch.
- Conditions per timer (Home Assistant conditions, checked when it fires), profiles with an active-profile select (new profile can copy another), duplicate, presets (hot plate, urn, evening / morning lights, AC), run now.
- Preview (dry run) of the next Shabbat / Chag with exact times, before-candle-lighting / after-havdalah marks and conflict reports; history of the last 100 runs.
- Fires once and never fights a manual change; after a restart, actions up to 10 minutes late still run, older ones are logged as missed.
- Entities:
switch.good_days_shabbat_timers,switch.good_days_skip_next_shabbat_or_chag,select.good_days_timer_profile,sensor.good_days_next_timer_action. - Changing timers needs an admin; everyone can see them.
- Source files now use escape sequences for bidi isolates (they held the invisible characters); a test enforces it.
