Pixel IMS 5G 1.0.6 - Small bug fixes

This is a small bug-fix update for Root SIM configuration persistence.

  • Stable Root SIM controls: VoNR, VoWiFi, enhanced-data-icon, and other SIM Config choices no longer replace one another when changed separately.
  • Persistent per-SIM profiles: Root mode saves one complete CarrierConfig profile for each SIM and restores it after reboot, user unlock, app update, or Root service reconnect.
  • Safe reset: Restore Google defaults also removes the saved Root profile.
  • Clear Shizuku behavior: Shizuku settings remain session-only and may reset after reboot.

Validated on a rooted Pixel 7 Pro running Android 17. The saved VoNR profile survived a physical reboot and was reapplied as one merged CarrierConfig bundle.

Existing installations using com.nirmala.pixel5gims can update normally without uninstalling.

Pixel IMS 5G 1.0.5 — VoLTE Fix

This is a small update focused on VoLTE and VoWiFi visibility, repair, and diagnostics.

  • VoLTE Fix: Root mode can display a live boxed VoLTE badge in Android's right-side status area while IMS is registered over LTE or NR. It disappears when cellular IMS disconnects.
  • Live VoWiFi indicator: A separate right-side icon appears only when IMS is genuinely registered through IWLAN. No ongoing notification is used.
  • Root VoWiFi repair: Added a reversible per-SIM repair that opens Android WFC gates, selects Wi-Fi preferred, restarts IMS, and reads the effective result back.
  • Actionable failure reasons: Distinguishes missing IMS data profiles, ePDG timeouts, DNS failures, and carrier IKE authentication rejection when evidence is available.
  • Deeper field reports: Captures the effective VoWiFi setting, IMS transport, IWLAN state, Wi-Fi state, and sanitized recent failure evidence.

The Root VoWiFi repair cannot create carrier entitlement, valid ePDG credentials, or carrier server access. This release does not change the regional 5G modem patch.

Existing installations using com.nirmala.pixel5gims can update normally without uninstalling.

@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Jul 05:53

Pixel IMS 5G 1.0.4 rev

  • How to enable 5G: The in-app How to use page now begins with dedicated step-by-step Root and Shizuku 5G setup paths.
  • Root setup made explicit: Covers Root Force, the Magisk regional modem compatibility patch, reboot, NSA-first testing, verification, and firmware-update recovery.
  • Clear Shizuku workflow: Covers Automatic bands, Force NSA, Easy Mode, the reversible Shizuku regional profile, Monitor, and Field Test.
  • Important regional limitation: Shizuku can open Android-side user/carrier gates but cannot replace Tensor cfg.db or guarantee attachment when vendor modem policy rejects EN-DC.
  • OTA revision ordering: The updater now recognizes 1.0.4r as newer than 1.0.4, so existing 1.0.4 users receive the revision normally.

Existing installations using com.nirmala.pixel5gims can update normally without uninstalling.

Pixel IMS 5G 1.0.4

  • Beautiful post-update changelogs: OTA updates now open a versioned liquid-glass What’s New screen. GitHub release notes survive Android’s installer, an embedded fallback covers sideloads, and the changelog can be reopened from About.
  • Premium interface redesign: Improved typography, spacing, semantic radio-status colors, compact expert controls, glass surfaces, and restrained motion across Pixel display sizes.
  • Perfectly aligned navigation: Replaced the Material bottom bar with equal-width cells, fixed centered icon slots, and stable label baselines. The app header now includes the by Nirmala signature.
  • Safer mobile-only diagnostics: Monitor and Field Test temporarily disable Wi-Fi, fail closed if isolation cannot be confirmed, and restore the previous Wi-Fi state when the session ends.
  • Deeper field reports: Added OS/build identity, operational PLMN, evidence provenance, NR and EN-DC semantics, IMS/callback coverage, readable policy gates, and sanitized root modem deltas.
  • Important Shizuku guidance: Every Pixel using Shizuku now receives the honest regional 5G limitation notice on stock Pixel OS and supported alternative Pixel operating systems.

Existing installations using com.nirmala.pixel5gims can update normally without uninstalling.

Pixel IMS 5G v1.0.0

This milestone keeps the separate Controls and Network Monitor experiences while adding deeper, reproducible 5G diagnostics.

What's new

  • Expanded the two-minute 5G Field Test with start/end snapshots for modem properties, CarrierConfig, phone/service state, TelephonyRegistry, physical-channel state, and filtered radio evidence.
  • Added per-sample LTE/NR cells, physical-channel configurations, NR/EN-DC/DCNR state, CA state, IMS transport, and attach-trace evidence.
  • Added root-only regional modem-profile patching using the phone's current firmware cfg.db.
    • Validates the expected schema and target profile before changing anything.
    • Runs SQLite integrity checks, records stock/patched hashes, installs systemlessly through Magisk, and is reversible.
    • Does not spoof the country, PLMN, SIM, or Wi-Fi regulatory domain.
  • Report now includes regional-patch state and enough before/after evidence to compare behavior at a known 5G site.
  • Retains dual-SIM-aware controls, Shizuku/root modes, LTE+/CA monitoring, IMS/VoLTE/VoWiFi diagnostics, band controls, recovery, and in-app GitHub updates.

Important limitations

The regional patch can expose a compatible modem profile, but no phone-side app can make a tower advertise EN-DC, grant network entitlement, or accept an NR secondary-cell-group request. The Field Test is designed to distinguish those cases.

After installing a firmware update, remove the regional patch and reboot before updating Android. Reinstall the patch afterward so it is rebuilt from that firmware's own modem database.

Validation

  • Signed release APK built by GitHub Actions and checked against the established OTA certificate.
  • Full two-minute field test completed on a rooted Pixel 7 Pro running Android 17.
  • Report sections and privacy redaction verified; subscriber identifiers are excluded.

Users already on package com.nirmala.pixel5gims version 0.12.6 or later can update normally. Older builds with a different package name must be uninstalled first.

Pixel IMS 5G v0.12.10F

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Jul 04:24

Pixel IMS 5G 0.12.10F restores the complete control interface while keeping radio monitoring in its own separate system.

Restored Controls

  • Per-SIM IMS & 5G controls entry for VoLTE, VoWiFi, VoNR, NSA/SA architecture, preferred radio mode, IMS restart, CarrierConfig, expert settings, and reset tools.
  • Per-SIM Band selection & LTE+ entry for Easy Mode, LTE carrier aggregation, Auto/Force NSA/Force SA, root-force diagnostics, and selectable LTE/NR bands.
  • Both control paths work independently for every active SIM.

Monitoring remains separate

The Network Monitor, 5G Attach Trace, physical-channel view, CarrierConfig diff, NR capabilities, and detailed 5G Field Test remain in the dedicated read-only Monitoring section.

Updater fix

The in-app GitHub updater now understands release labels with a letter suffix such as 0.12.10F, and unit tests cover its numeric ordering.

Existing 0.12.6 installations can update normally to 0.12.10F.

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Jul 04:11

Corrective package-identity release.

  • Android application ID is now com.nirmala.pixel5gims.
  • Version 0.12.6 / versionCode 16.
  • Keeps the established Pixel IMS 5G signing certificate.
  • Includes all detailed 5G Field Test, root/Shizuku, attach-trace, CarrierConfig, NR capability, and PCC/SCC features from 0.12.5.

Required migration for 0.12.6 only

  1. Uninstall the old com.fibc.pixel5gims app.
  2. Install the new Pixel IMS 5G 0.12.6 APK.
  3. Open the new app and approve Root or Shizuku again.

Android treats com.nirmala.pixel5gims as a separate application, so 0.12.6 cannot update the old package or inherit its private settings. This uninstall/reinstall requirement applies only to the 0.12.6 package-ID migration; later versions update normally from 0.12.6.
