Nvidia Support

Installing Omarchy here for the first time. I have a RTX 4060 TI and had to install some packages later because hyprland was breaking in a infinite loop :)

Had to go to another TTY and install the drivers as said here: https://wiki.hypr.land/Nvidia/#further-installation, after reboot seems to work just fine.

Just a heads up, maybe adding a section in the manual for people that don't know about it should help!

I'd take a patch that auto installs the nvidea fixes when detected that it's needed! Thanks for noticing this.

Added some temporary notes about the extra Nvidia steps needed on https://manuals.omamix.org/2/the-omarchy-manual/50/getting-started. Can someone with an Nvidia card please confirm this is all that's needed?

i also installed nvidia-dkms for the proprietary drivers.

For the entirely proprietary Nvidia drivers, you can therefore use the nvidia-dkms package. And for those wanting / needing to use the open source kernel modules, nvidia-open-dkms can be used.

If you want compatibility with NVIDIA-5090/5080/50x0 cards, I believe you need to use the new "-open" packages. At least that is what provided me with the most compatible set of drivers. This is the set of packages I am using where the nvidia-smi , CUDA, and Steam is functioning. Following the instructions in the arch install portion of the video I just added the nvidia-open package along with wget.

I've ran hyprland on a 5070 TI for months.

I don't believe you need different auto-configuration between nvidia cards (i could be wrong?)

just defaulting to nvidia-open-dkms drivers instead of nvidia-dkms should do the trick i believe

in my hypr config i have:

env = LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME,nvidia
env = __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME,nvidia
env = GBM_BACKEND,nvidia-drm

If those env variables are actually needed, i haven't got a clue. but it's whats in my config.

I had to enable multilib to get it to work otherwise lib32-zlib would fail.

Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

Also the auto install didn't seem to work, running source ./nvidia did work, that might be an issue on my end though can try it again when the multilib is fixed.

“It’s really weird, because gpu_info=$(lspci | grep -i 'nvidia') appears both in the Hyprlandia script where it checks for an NVIDIA card and in ./nvidia, which installs the correct nvidia-dkms package. If it doesn’t work in the detection phase, it shouldn’t work in ./nvidia either.”

if you have time can you try to run lspci | grep -i 'nvidia' in arch iso?

I get this when I run it inside the install.

Oh, I think I’ve found the issue! 😄
Using source ./nvidia was the culprit
What I really needed was:

'source ~/.local/share/omarchy/install/nvidia'

I’d assumed ./nvidia would work, but because we’re running the script from Omarchy’s root, it couldn’t locate the file.
Just a small oversight!
