Local 0.1.0

The first public release of Local — private AI on your own Mac. Local
runs open models on Apple Silicon through the BaseRT runtime: chat,
meetings, and coding sessions that work entirely on your machine, with
nothing leaving it unless you say so.

Highlights

• Chat with local models. Replies render as live Markdown — headings,
  tables, code blocks, and the model's thinking — and long conversations
  keep going.
• A model catalogue sized to your Mac. Local recommends model tiers
  that fit your machine's memory, downloads them fast with resume and
  cancel, and picks up new models without waiting for an app update.
• Meetings. Record, transcribe on-device with speaker identification,
  and turn transcripts into crisp write-ups.
• Coding sessions. Point Local at a folder and work with a model that
  can read and use real tools, with every call visible as it runs.
• Private by design. Privacy mode guarantees requests are never routed
  to a cloud provider. Cloud models are there when you want them — bring
  your own key, or your own endpoint — and never when you don't.
• Storage, in one place. Everything Local keeps on disk — models,
  recordings, sessions — listed and sorted so the biggest wins are on top.
• Tunable, safely. A small set of advanced server options — context
  window, KV-cache precision, reply length — for people who want control
  without being able to break chat.

Requirements

• Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 14 or newer.
• Local installs and manages the BaseRT runtime for you.

Local checks for updates and tells you when a new version is available.
