Thumbsticks on controller not working, action buttons not correct and sound missing in RPCS3

Running latest Batocera 38-dev-5bd3ff814d 2023/008/28 build with RPCS3 0.0.29-15479.

Problem is controller thumbsticks no longer working in RPCS3 . Therefore unable to play many games that require thumbsticks. Especially for character movement. All other controller buttons seem to work fine. Can you please fix.

Controller is 8bitdo usb/bluetooth gamepad.

what version of 8bitdo in what mode ?

Controllers are FC30 PRO and NES30 PRO. As pictured in the image linked below. Connected via USB. As fpr mode. Not sure but assume Windows X-input.

Assume problem started since latest version PRCS3 added to Batocera. As controllers were working fine with previous builds of Batocera/RPCS3.

I tried the later development build of Batocera (38-dev-100e631874 2003/0901 but unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. Thumbsicks are still not working.

@g12345567 go into F1 -> Applications & start RPCS3, configure your controller using evdev.
Then launch a game without going back to ES, do the sticks work?

Try alternative modes. Seems like the problem is with rpcs3

Looks like a problem with RPCS3 and still not fixed. I just tried the latest 38-dev-2d0a24605d 2023/09/16 01:56 and noticed whilst the thumbsicks still don't work. The action button positions have also changed. IE Right is now X instead of Ｏ . left is now △ instead of ◻ etc

Also some sound now not working or completely missing in many PS3 games. Was working in previous beta build 38-dev-46b2532817 2023/09/07 00:10

Where as all the buttons are working and correct when using PS1, PS2 and PSP emulators.

Update On Controller.

As per 2023/xx/xx - batocera.linux 38 changelog -"RPCS3 now requires specific Sony controller selection via EmulationStation"

When AUTO which I've always used and had no problem with or SONY DS controller selected. As above Action Buttons are not correct. Physically have to set DIRECTINPUT for controller in "Per System Advanced Configuration" or "Advanced game options" for face buttons to work correctly.

Thumbsticks however still not working after setting controller to DIRECTINPUT for RPCS3.

As mentioned above. Audio/Sound still not working and missing in games.

Currently you can only choose between AUTO, DIRECTINPUT and SONY DS. I therefore assume that controllers in X-Input or Switch Mode do not work or do not work properly?
I personally unfortunately do not own the 8bitdo models FC30 PRO and NES30 PRO and therefore can no try to replicate/reproduce your issue. But I have a lot of other controllers that I could test in RPCS3 (and will if I find the time). Will report here, if they all work fine or not.

I too noticed sound issues in PS3 games (i tested Tekken 6). The sound is either incomplete or is away completely every now and then while playing.

@g12345567 confirmed analog inputs for DirectInput controllers are broken in RPCS3. This happens with their AppImage also. You need to report it upstream to the RPCS3 developers.

@joinski1 yes there is a sound bug in PSN games with RPCS3 i'm hunting down. Tekken 6 should work however... Is the Audio Format set to Auto? I noticed using Stereo sometime breaks things with the newer builds.

Yes, Audio Format is set to Auto. I also tested with the current built from your share (15.09.23) and it has the same issue with audio. Some sound effects like punches are hearable but music not. And every now and then the sound cuts out completely.
The machine i'm testing on has a Ryzen 5 5600G (using the iGPU, so Vega 7) which should be powerful enough for Tekken 6 on PS3. But i will also test on other hardware.

@joinski1 ok, thanks. we may roll back rpcs3 for v38 if we cannot fix it as this is only a result of the updated version.
