First-run fixes before launch

  • Your keys are always shown. squidbrake setup creates the dashboard keys and shows them once. If setup stopped part-way (the background service didn't start, or connecting an agent failed), they weren't shown at all. Now they're printed however setup ends.
  • Works behind a company proxy on Windows. With a system proxy that doesn't bypass 127.0.0.1, setup said the service didn't start and doctor said the dashboard didn't answer, while both were running. Checks of a gateway on your own computer now skip the proxy, as the hooks already did.
  • Claude Code settings saved with a byte-order mark (Notepad, PowerShell 5.1) or left empty no longer crash connect; a settings file that isn't valid JSON stops with its path instead of being overwritten.
  • doctor with a space in your path (C:\Users\Rahul Kumar\..., /Users/a b/...) no longer reports a working Claude Code hook as broken.
  • Usage stats: if you said yes but joining the counts failed (offline), it's retried once a day until it works. Leaving (squidbrake pilot leave) is never undone. The README now says that a yes on the first run also shares counts.
  • Installers: on Windows, new windows find squidbrake without signing out; on macOS / Linux the installer exits with an error when setup didn't finish.

Upgrade: run the install line again, or pipx upgrade squidbrake
