As has been announced, DSM 7.3 is out and people are already installing. So far we've had some success and a failure. I've put out this poll to get an idea of those of you that have been brave enough to deploy whether the driver continues to function. I, as many as others most likely, cannot stand to lose my 5Gbps adapter connection as it is the storage location and I actually have two adapter running, one on the 5Gbps side of my network and one on my 2.5Gbps side of my network with network isolation, VLANs, and dedicated switches. Please, if you dare to test, let us know if you were successful/unsuccessful and what Synology unit you tested on. Please provide as much detail as possible, examples:
Please be sure to include the Synology unit that you were successful/unsuccessful with so that we can start assembling a compatibility matrix. Hopefully, @bb-qq will be able to step in once enough time has passed and they've gained access to a DSM 7.3 machine. Your efforts are much appreciated! I will be personally sacrificing my DS1618+ as the first test machine, the my cold storage DS1517+, and the finally the unit that runs all the storage, streaming, photo albums, work and personal data and has a DX517 attached, my RS1221RP+. I will surely be reporting back. Is it possible to do a test run of the driver install in a DSM VM? IMPORTANT NOTE: So far, based on the results of a very small sample set, it is totally proceed at your own risk to upgrade to DSM 7.3 and expect @bb-qq 's driver to function. There are likely tweaks that Synology made that have hung some installs. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK AND PLEASE REPORT SUCCESS OR FAILURE FOR OTHERS. |

So far we have the following events on DSM 7.3: Successful List: Unsuccessful List: We'll try to keep this list updated as we hear back from more testers so that we develop some more confidence to give it a try. Hopefully @bb-qq will be able to get their hands on a DSM 7.3 updated unit to see what changes were made that relate to the potential failure of the driver. |

DS918+ and DS220+ no issues with DSM 7.3, using "UGREEN USB 2.5G LAN-adapter Ethernet-adapter USB 3.0" on both units |
|
Unable to install using two different adapters on 7.3. DS918+ |
|
Not working for me either on UGREEN USB to Ethernet Adapter 2.5Gb on 7.3, DS918+ |
|
Unsuccessful on the DS223j with r8152-rtd1619b-2.20.1-1_7.2 |
|
After installing the driver I restarted and plugged in the adapter in the front port while the unit was restarting. As it booted into DSM, Drive 2 was not detected by the system. A power off / on cycle later it came back. Networking works fine with all 3 ports connected. DS220+, UGreen adapter, DSM 7.3 |

DS416play with Cable Matters 2.5GbE RTL8156B and current driver already installed under 7.2: Upgrade to 7.3 without problems, adapter continued to work without issues or further steps necessary. |
|
DS423 Hung on upgrade to 7.3 Problem was eventually traced to r8152 driver. Once removed (a difficult process), upgrade to 7.3 successful. Driver not reinstalled. |
|
What was so difficult about the uninstall?

Driver not reinstalled.
DS220+ Upgrade successful without removing driver and driver works no
problem.
DS220j driver was unstable in 7.2.2 and removed. Upgrade without driver
successful.
DS920+ is calling for upgrade to 7.3, but I'm holding back until i'm
confident.
DS918+ is NOT currently calling for upgrade.

With a few bumps on the way (due to me, not the driver), I appear to have successfully installed on IoSafe 218. New to this and have not tested performance. DSM 7.3.2-86009, ULANSeN 5G USB 3.2 Ethernet Adapter with RTL8157 {https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DYJRP97L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title} |

It is not working for me with UGREEN USB 2.5G LAN-adapter and DS223J after 7.3 upgrade. It was working fine on 7.2 before. After 7.3 system wont start, the only way for me is to force reset and uninstall the bb-qq driver. I tested latest version 2.20.1 with the same issue |
|
Just installed for the first time on my DS1019+ today with no issues |
|
Today DS918+ Apollo Lake with Club3D CAC-1410 USB2.5 Gbit reinstalled on DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 1 with driver 2.20.1-1. All is working flawlessly. Same as before. In my experience, it only works properly if you first uninstall the previous driver completely, then restart/reboot the Diskstation. Then, following the instructions here exactly(!), reinstall the drivers and restart the system again. That's how it's always worked for me so far. In the past, I tried it twice without restarting/rebooting, and then no connection could be established. Anyway, it's still working perfectly for me. Today, I even transferred 1 TB of data back and forth across my network as a test, and everything was fine. Of course, I can't guarantee it will work for anyone or their system! |

Yes, I was able to cleanly install the driver in DSM 7.3 and it is functioning exactly as before (at least for 30 minutes). DSM version: DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 1 I uninstalled the package before updating DSM and I installed it again after the update. The package has been compiled using the newly released Toolkit for 7.3 If somebody else that was experiencing issues with rtd1619b models wants to try again, I can share the package. |
|
It seems that the version I compiled with the toolkit for 7.3 is working on Realtek. There are positive reports on DS223 (from myself), DS223J and DS423. (issue #584) |

I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone tried the driver with a RS unit. I know this is more of a rarity because most RS units come with some kind of 10G or SFP+ port to run the higher speeds, but my RS1221RP+ has neither of these and when I purchased the NVMe expansion card, I didn't pay the extra $75 of whatever it was to have both a 10G ethernet plug AND dual NVMe SSD slots on it. The RS runs my life, so I'm taking a big leap or I'm going to end up ordering the combined 10G + SSD expansion card and selling the SSD only one I have. |

DS223j with 7.3.2.x working again with newest driver package (2.21.4-1) - thank you :-) |
|
Hi all, thank you for sharing your working status. |
|
So, I'm going to stop maintaining this list since 7.4.1 is out. If I need to create a new list for 7.4, I'll gladly do so. |

Happy to report that I just went for it on my RS1221RP+ and the connection is back up and running. I stopped all apps relying on that connection (HyperBackup, HyperBackup Vault, Cloud Sync, etc.) and the driver itself.
The machine took both updates leading to current and the mod to allow me to plug DX517s into it instead of having to pay for the insane price of a RX unit for one drive left worked first try and rebuilt the array on the DX 517 without issue.
So, all in all, very happy to report that the driver works on RS units. It WAS interesting though that until I launched the Realtek network driver it detected it as an external USB device. I don't think I saw it behave that way previously.
