Beacon PHP Instrumentation 0.1.0 is the first stable release of the Beacon distribution of the OpenTelemetry PHP native instrumentation extension.

Highlights

  • Based on OpenTelemetry PHP Instrumentation 1.4.2.
  • Preserves the upstream opentelemetry extension name and hook API compatibility.
  • Adds an explicit Beacon distribution marker through phpinfo and OpenTelemetry\Instrumentation\BEACON_DISTRIBUTION.
  • Provides prebuilt Linux and Windows binaries plus a PECL-compatible source package.
  • Includes SHA256SUMS for all downloadable assets.

Supported release assets

  • Linux x86_64 NTS: PHP 8.2 and PHP 8.4.
  • Windows x86_64 NTS: PHP 8.2 and PHP 8.4 with VS17.
  • Windows x86_64 TS: PHP 8.4 with VS17.
  • PECL-compatible source package for custom builds.

Match the PHP version, thread-safety mode, operating system, compiler ABI, and architecture before loading a binary. Verify downloaded files with SHA256SUMS.

Component-level Composer instrumentation is maintained separately in beacon-php.
