Help needed with similar project, steeb

I'm a big fan of beets and I'm using it always when getting new music.

Now I saw a lot of online music services out there and was wondering if it is possible to match online music with musicbrainz, just like beets, and download it that way.
That made me start steeb (Here a little demo gif).
Now I need some more help with the algorithm of music matching like beets is doing. Is there a way to reuse beets in this project or is it better to merge some of the source code?

If there is someone interested too in steeb, I need some more contributers, so be welcome.

Interesting project!

If you're interested in using beets' functionality, I would very much recommend using it as a library. At one point in the past, another project (Headphones) vendored the beets instead, and that didn't work out very well.

Beets is structured as a library, so it should definitely be possible to depend on it like any other Python module. There are a few complexities related to configuration and such, but I would love to work with application developers to make those simpler—so please do offer feedback if you run into trouble.

As a starting point, you might want to look either at the autotag.hooks module or importer, depending on what kind of functionality you need.
