v0.2.90 — Small UX improvement: add "warm-open" / instant-open state that lets consumers opt out of opening animations.

Note: all packages in this monorepo share the v0.2.90 tag, but only the following packages include code changes in this release:

  • @data-slot/hover-card
  • @data-slot/tooltip

@data-slot/hover-card

  • ✨ Add a "warm-open" / instant-open state: components now set a data-instant attribute on root, content, and positioner when opened instantly.
  • ✨ Internal state: introduced isInstantOpen and the applyState(..., instant) flag so open behavior can be applied without animations when appropriate.
  • UX impact: you can opt out of CSS-based open animations by targeting [data-instant] in your styles (for example, disable transitions when data-instant is present).

@data-slot/tooltip

  • ✨ Add a "warm-open" / instant-open state: components now set a data-instant attribute on root, content, and positioner when opened instantly.
  • ✨ Internal state: introduced isInstantOpen and the updateState(..., instant) flag so open behavior can be applied without animations when appropriate.
  • UX impact: style [data-instant] to disable or shorten open animations for instant/warm opens.

Breaking changes

  • No breaking changes to the public API. There is a small internal signature change (applyState/updateState now accept an optional instant parameter) — this only affects internal logic or consumers who directly patch into these internal helpers.

Upgrade notes

  • If you rely on CSS animations for hover-card/tooltip opens and want to preserve or disable animations for instant/warm opens, add rules targeting [data-instant] to control transitions. Example:
    • [data-instant] { transition: none !important; }
