What's in it

Engine — 7 Python modules, standard library only, no pip install. Money is integer paisa, never float. Amounts print in Bangladeshi lakh/crore grouping (৳12,34,567.89). Double-entry is enforced: an unbalanced entry is refused, not corrected. 867 tests.

Tax data for করবর্ষ / assessment year 2026-27 — 436 rate nodes, each carrying a source URL, an as_of date and a verified flag:

362 verified	read from primary text — NBR's আয়কর পরিপত্র ২০২৬-২০২৭, a gazetted SRO, or the enacted law
55 unverified	resting on agreeing professional summaries, because the Finance Act 2026 gazette is typeset in a legacy Bijoy font that will not extract
19 placeholders	never landed; the engine refuses them individually

Covers income tax slabs and category thresholds, the investment rebate, minimum tax, both surcharges, corporate rates, VAT rates and thresholds, the Mushak form series, the full TDS/VDS matrices including the 30-row non-resident table, payroll, penalties and the compliance calendar.

How it avoids making numbers up

Every figure is read from the rates file at answer time — never from the model's memory. That rule was not assumed; it was measured. In a baseline of 25 unguided replies to real Bangladeshi tax questions, 25 out of 25 fabricated figures, giving three different tax-free thresholds for the same question — none of them the enacted ৪,০০,০০০. Two rounds of testing hardened the instruction against that, and an adversarial audit then retracted four statutory claims that had crept in without a source.

Where the sources genuinely disagree — as with the individual filing deadline — the package states both readings and adopts neither, rather than picking one and sounding confident.
