Random Worlds

A Python desktop app for generating random world maps with noise-based terrain. It combines simplex noise with a circular island-style gradient, then colors the result into water, beach, forest, mountain, and snow regions.

  • Procedural world generation with adjustable noise settings
  • CustomTkinter GUI with sliders for scale, octaves, persistence, and lacunarity

Requirements

Installation

git clone https://github.com/benbop/Random_Worlds.git
cd Random_Worlds
python -m pip install customtkinter noise numpy pillow

Running

python GUI.py

Use the sliders to adjust the generator parameters, then click Generate World to create and preview a new map.

Project Structure

  • GUI.py - desktop interface and save controls
  • Map.py - noise generation, island gradient, and terrain coloring logic
