TubeNow v1.1.0
TubeNow v1.1.0 delivers an ad-free, high-performance desktop experience for the official YouTube website, available in both Electron and Tauri packages for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Highlights & Improvements in v1.1.0
- Seamless Ad-Free Viewing: Blocks pre-roll, mid-roll, and sidebar video ads cleanly and silently at the network layer without interrupting video playback.
- Enhanced Fullscreen Live Chat: Fixed chat text visibility on dark themes with bright white message text, distinct author colors, and accurate contrast across both windowed and fullscreen modes.
- YouTube Native Pinned Comments: Restored YouTube's authentic single-card pinned comment geometry, dark readable typography, clean clickable links, and eliminated the double-border and white-to-black vignette gradient.
- Glitch-Free Fullscreen Transition: Eliminated the momentary recommendation/filter-chip leak during the fullscreen transition in Electron, providing a smooth, instant viewing expansion.
- Default 1080p Resolution: Quick video start times by targeting 1080p automatically, while retaining full manual access to 4K and 8K options.
- Full Desktop Integration: Tray minimize, background audio playback options, and Windows taskbar thumbnail controls (previous / play-pause / next).

Excluded from v1.1.0
Windows ARM64 packages for both Electron and Tauri are not included in this release. The public release makes no Windows ARM64 support claim.
yt-dlp consent
The first download request checks whether yt-dlp is available. If it is not, TubeNow asks for permission before installing it. The installation is performed by the desktop application after native confirmation. Choosing Not now or rejecting that confirmation displays a notice and prevents the active video from being downloaded. A later request may accept the installation, or a manually installed yt-dlp may be used instead.
Some output formats also require FFmpeg. Use downloads only where the relevant terms, permissions, and media rights allow saving the content.
Platform notice
The v1.1.0 workflow does not include platform-signing credentials. Windows and macOS may show standard untrusted publisher warnings on first launch. Verify against checksums.txt before running.
