Lydia 1.1.1

@berelels berelels released this 23 Oct 12:19

Fixed in 1.1.1

  • Clicks that didn't land: parts of the island that refresh by themselves (Controls, Today, System, the clipboard, notifications, Apps, the player) could replace a button between press and release, and the click was lost. They now wait while the mouse button is down, and only redraw what changed.
  • Chat: "what time is the debate tonight?" is no longer answered with the current time; the question goes to the AI, which now knows the date, time and your city, and can search the web with Gemini when its quota allows.
  • When every Gemini model fails, the real reason (quota, overload) is shown.

The .deb is the recommended package. Every package was installed on clean Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12, Fedora 42 and Arch, and started there. Checksums: SHA256SUMS.

New in 1.1

  • Apps by category: chips under the search (games, internet, media, graphics, development, office, system, utilities). A click filters, again shows all.
  • In the background: the apps in the system tray (Discord, Steam, Claude...) at the top of the Apps tab. A click opens the app; a right click shows its own menu inside the island.

The .deb is the recommended package. Every package was installed on clean Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12, Fedora 42 and Arch, and started there. Checksums: SHA256SUMS.

The first public version of Lydia: a workstation at the top of your screen, like a dynamic island, for Linux.

Download (the .deb is the recommended one)

Package For
lydia_1.0.0_amd64.deb / _arm64.deb Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Mint 21+, Pop!_OS, Zorin, elementary
lydia-1.0.0.x86_64.rpm / .aarch64.rpm Fedora, openSUSE
Lydia-1.0.0.AppImage / -arm64.AppImage Any other distro
Lydia-1.0.0-x86_64.flatpak Any distro with Flatpak (the system's tools run on the host)
sudo apt install ./lydia_1.0.0_amd64.deb

Then open Lydia from the apps menu; the setup wizard does the rest.

What she does: controls (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sound, night light, dark mode, do not disturb), today (clock, weather, week, timers, tasks), system, clipboard, apps, wallpapers, chat, her own notifications, a music player on the closed island, and a voice assistant with dictation, in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Desktops: everything on GNOME 42 to 51 (X11 or Wayland) with her helper extension; the island and most tabs on Cinnamon, MATE, XFCE and KDE (KDE on Wayland through a KWin script).

Every package here was installed on clean Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12, Fedora 42 and Arch, and started there. Checksums: SHA256SUMS.
