v2.12.2 — FINAL BUILD
This is the final build. No further updates are planned.
Changes since v2.12.0: the background is now plain black — the wallpaper cost legibility for decoration, and body copy over the artwork sat under a readable contrast ratio. The fake-lossless checker's folder box also now names the folder it actually scanned, rather than whatever path was remembered from last time.
Find fake FLACs
A lossy encoder throws away everything above a cutoff frequency and cannot put it back. Re-encoding the result to FLAC rebuilds a lossless container around permanently lossy audio — the extension, the bitrate and the file size all look right, and only the spectrum still knows.
Point the new Check panel at a folder and it measures every file in it.
- Scan a folder — results grouped by release, with artist, album and year from the tags
- A spectrogram for every track, one click away — Spek, built in
- Quarantine findings (an instant move within the same drive, with a restore log, so nothing is destroyed to look at it later) or delete them
- Save report as text, save spectrograms as pictures, clear results
How it decides
Long-term average spectrum, 16384-point Hann FFT at 50% overlap, digital silence skipped, normalised to the loudest bin. Then three numbers: the cutoff, how sharply energy falls across it (wall), and how much is left above it.
A lossy verdict needs all three of a cutoff well below Nyquist, a brick wall at it, and a dead band above it. A mastering engineer can produce any one of those on their own — so one alone earns suspect instead.
Also caught: padded (24-bit declared, 16 bits actually used) and upsampled (96 kHz with nothing above 22 kHz). AAC inside an .m4a is reported as a lossy format, not a fake — the codec decides that, not the extension.
Calibrated against round-trip controls that ship as tests: known full-band audio encoded to MP3 320 and AAC 256 and decoded back must be caught, and the original must be cleared.

One watch list instead of two panels with three different names for "check now", and watched labels that follow their library folder when it is moved or renamed.
Windows
beatportdl-webui-windows-x64.zip contains a single self-contained bpdl-web.exe. It carries its own FFmpeg, so there is nothing to install. Run it and open http://localhost:8095.
To use your own FFmpeg build instead, put ffmpeg.exe next to bpdl-web.exe, or set BPDL_FFMPEG to its full path.
See THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt in the zip for the bundled FFmpeg and NumPy notices.
