Honor the editor entry preference and keep Files reachable before the first file opens. Preserve saved-layout mutations and a permanent explorer pane. Cover new and resumed sessions against production assets and prepare server 0.8.30 with independent review and complete local gate evidence.

Project Files currently shows a read-only preview, and the coding workspace ignores its editor entry preference. Before any file is open, switching from Agent back to the explorer also leaves Agent selected.
Open or resume the materialized workspace directly from Files. Honor editor-first entry, retain a selectable Files pane, preserve existing saved-layout mutations, and offer a project return action for failed or closed sessions. Prepare server 0.8.30; other release outputs are reused.
Validation: 46 frontend unit tests; 32 production browser cases with 18 existing platform skips; complete root/composed Rust, chart, version/impact and leak gates. Independent review identified two saved-layout edge cases; deciding tests reproduced both and pass after correction. Final review approves diff 5195c9615112574d51cc64184782707d80ad3431b6013ec48b26ea8e828ad887. Actual deployed Files-click acceptance follows immutable publication and rollout.
