Features

  • Brainstorm Discuss operation (t1823_1, t1823_2, t1823_3, t1823_4): A new "Discuss" operation in the brainstorm TUI launches an advisory-only agent that compares proposals, explains one in plain words, answers questions and checks a design for structural flaws. It works on any node, including the root, and on a marked set of nodes.
  • Bring back frozen agents when ait ide starts (t1847): ait ide now spots frozen agents whose viewer window is gone and offers to recreate their viewers, restore them, re-pick them, or skip. Agents that survived without a window are adopted, not duplicated. --no-frozen-check turns the offer off.
  • Cross-repository task notes (t1869): ait note --project <name> sends a note to a task in another registered repository, and ait note read --project reads it back. The target repository writes and commits the note itself.
  • Test map engine foundation (t1852, t1852_1, t1852_2, t1852_3): Added the test map engine proposal, a per-user AITASKS_HOME root that ait setup creates, and a skeleton of the Go-based ait-testmap engine. CI now builds, checks and releases prebuilt binaries for it.
  • Opus 5.5 is the default Claude Code model (t1865): Registered Claude Opus 5.5 and made it the default code agent model.

Bug Fixes

  • Missing Claude Code session hook after upgrade (t1849): ait upgrade and ait ide now warn you when the Claude Code session hook is missing. The new ait setup --hooks-only installs just the hook.
  • Restored agents keep their model (t1850): A restored frozen agent now comes back on the model it was running before, not the current default.
  • Restore into a new window starts the minimonitor (t1851): Restoring a frozen agent into a new window now also opens its minimonitor companion.
  • Restore never loses track of an agent (t1875): When a restore's original pane is gone and the launch only partly succeeds, the agent is still tracked.
  • Freezing an unrecorded agent keeps its task (t1848): Freezing an agent that had no session record now saves its task id, so restore reopens the right task.
  • Ambiguous Claude sessions are refused (t1820): Freeze refuses to guess when several Claude conversations match the same project, and it reports a refused record update instead of going on silently.
  • ait ide session name checks (t1811, t1825, t1828): ait ide rejects session names that tmux cannot address, both on the command line and in the configured default. It reads tmux.default_session only when the YAML parser would read it the same way, and it reports whole-file YAML errors clearly.
  • Session-wide tmux lookups (t1874): Session-wide pane listings now always target the whole session, so a session whose name looks like a window name no longer resolves to the wrong place.
  • Board fixes (t1816, t1839): Closing a dialog quickly no longer crashes when the screen has already changed. The By-Trail view no longer leaves focus on a card that disappeared after a refresh.
  • Fast preview keeps parked snapshots (t1769): The fast-preview capture no longer overwrites snapshots of parked agents.
  • Shadow reviews only the followed agent's changes (t1873): The shadow agent's implementation review now covers only the followed task's own changes, not unrelated edits in the same tree.
  • Model registration fixes (t1868, t1884): The add-model manual-review checklist lists the right files again. A fallback agent string in a reserved namespace now parses, and the Opus 5.5 1M-context variant is registered.
  • OpenCode commands for templated skills (t1831): OpenCode command wrappers for profile-aware skills now render the correct profile variant.
  • Documentation corrections (t1862, t1864): The gate design docs now describe the enforced gate set, and the ait attach help line no longer describes outdated behaviour.
  • Test isolation and correctness (t1735, t1815, t1826, t1837, t1871, t1876): Tests no longer leak fixture task files into the live tree or run from an unguarded directory. The cd-guard lint now works on macOS, and several assertions that could never fail were fixed.

Improvements

  • Parallel-safety check before claiming a task (t1688_2): /aitask-pick can optionally check whether a task is safe to run next to work already in flight before claiming it. It is off in all shipped profiles.
  • Codex GPT-6 models (t1866): Registered Codex GPT-6 Sol and Luna. Sol is now the default for shadow and discuss agents.
  • Remote drift check finds more overlaps (t1877): The drift check now scans every path mentioned in a plan when it looks for overlap with remote changes, and it reports weaker matches separately.
  • Phase-neutral concern clipboard text (t1840): Concerns copied from monitor and minimonitor now end with a phase-neutral request, so they also work outside planning.
  • Parallel-admission precision measurement (t1814): The admission sweep now measures how precise the file lists declared in tasks are.
  • Go engine benchmark gate (t1872): The Go engine's benchmark gate now adjusts for host speed, so a slower machine does not report false regressions.
  • Board split and stand-alone ait trails (t1794_4, t1794_5, t1794_6, t1794_7, t1794_8): Finished splitting the board into modules and added ait trails, a stand-alone TUI for implementation trails.
  • Frozen-agent internals (t1767, t1881, t1883): Freeze-All listing and freezing now share one eligibility rule, and restore and reopen share their tmux helpers.

Documentation

  • New Concepts pages (t1687_1, t1687_2, t1687_3, t1687_4, t1687_5): Added Concepts pages for gates, attachments (plus an ait attach reference), task notes, cross-repo references, implementation trails and the shadow agent, and reorganized the Concepts index.
  • Freeze and restore docs (t1705_10, t1778): Documented the freeze/restore workflow, the framework session, the shared restore watch deadline, and restore when tmux is unreachable.
  • ait trails and board package docs (t1794_10, t1794_11): Documented the stand-alone ait trails TUI and the board package layout.
  • Brainstorm Discuss docs (t1823_5): Documented the Discuss operation and its skill.

Performance

  • Minimonitor reads sessions once (t1765): The minimonitor's own panel now caches the sessions store instead of re-reading it on every tick.

Tests

  • Multi-session monitor test snapshots (t1880): The multi-session monitor tests now build their snapshots from the real snapshot type.

Maintenance

  • Test registration (t1846): Registered the board detail-screen tests with the migrated-module list.
  • OpenCode model refresh (t1867): Added GPT-6 Astra and the GPT-5.6 fast variants to the OpenCode model list.
