BeyondSEO 2.9.1 — Saved audits, without leftover file locks
This patch fixes a Windows file-lock error discovered by the 2.9.0 release tests.
After continuing a saved audit, BeyondSEO could leave a database connection open. Windows then prevented that file from being removed. The same connection-handling pattern existed when reopening report configuration; both paths now close their connections explicitly.
The continuation regression now verifies that every tracked database connection is closed, so this can also be caught on macOS and Linux. No test was skipped to hide the failure.
All 2.9.0 improvements remain included: flexible page limits, clearer coverage, deeper technical checks and safer verification.
Local validation: 249 tests passed and one platform-specific test skipped. Formatting, documentation and release-hygiene checks passed. Cross-platform results are available in GitHub Actions.
Download the updated skill ZIP and checksum below. Follow the installation guide to update your assistant. Private client data is not included.
BeyondSEO 2.9.0 — Know your website better. Fix it with confidence.
A useful audit should tell you what was checked, what needs attention and what to do next. This update makes those answers clearer—and helps you check the results when changes are made.
- Start with the pages that matter. A normal audit checks up to 15 priority pages, starting with your homepage and favouring about, contact and service pages. Choose a homepage check, specific URLs or a deeper review when you need it.
- Pick up where you left off. Continue a saved audit with another batch of pages instead of checking the same pages again.
- Know what the report covers. See which pages were inspected, only partly captured, blocked or still waiting. A page that could not be read is not treated as proof of missing content.
- Catch more overlooked issues. Get clearer checks for problem sitemap links, conflicting structured data, language-page connections, duplicate descriptions and image settings—with the affected pages and practical next steps.
- Understand what is stopping a check. Readiness checks now test browser JavaScript and file access, with optional checks for your website's connection, robots rules and sitemaps. Installed software alone is not reported as a successful website check.
- Check changes more carefully. Updated guidance separates making a change from verifying it. Supported PHP edits require a syntax check before staging and applying; layout checks, fresh page checks and rollback remain part of the website-work workflow.
Your competitor research, backlink planning, SEO/AEO/GEO guidance, branded reports and optional monitoring remain included. No required paid SEO API has been added.
Try “Audit my 15 most important pages and explain what to fix first” or “Continue my saved audit with 10 more pages.” Page selection uses URL patterns, so your agent should review the selection and use exact URLs when needed.
What was checked
- 249 automated tests passed locally; one platform-specific test was skipped.
- A separate local trial checked page selection, applying a change, desktop/mobile layout preservation and rollback. Private website data and trial artifacts are not included.
- Formatting, code checks and all 268 local documentation links/assets passed.
- The skill ZIP contains 200 files, including its installation receipt.
Install or update
Download beyondseo-2.9.0-skill.zip below for supported skill-upload workflows. Follow the installation guide for your assistant. Local source users can update their checkout and rerun the documented setup; keep private project data outside the source folder. A checksum file is included.
Practical limits
The 15-page default is a sample, with URL-based priority selection. Failed attempts count toward the budget. Browser, network and host permissions still determine available access. Real PHP lint execution and fresh imports into every assistant were not tested for this release. PHP edits require a compatible PHP runtime; syntax validation does not establish deployment correctness. Search rankings and AI citations are not guaranteed.
See the changelog for implementation details and previous releases.
BeyondSEO 2.8.0 — Your SEO plan, put into action
What's New
BeyondSEO can now help carry out the website improvements you approve and show you how the work is progressing—all through the AI agent you already use.
Improve your website without redesigning it
Move from an audit to action. Ask your agent to improve page titles, descriptions, useful answers, internal links, schema and sitemap coverage while preserving your layout, business facts and concise copy. New pages need your approval, and changes are checked before being marked complete.
Follow the work in one place
Choose an optional private BeyondSEO dashboard to see your plan, progress, completed checks and anything waiting for attention. Keep giving instructions in your usual chat. The dashboard is for monitoring; it does not require a separate AI subscription just to view it.
Know where to post, what to write and when
Off-site plans connect relevant sources from the 206-entry library with article ideas, outlines, target pages and suggested posting dates. Free and paid options are distinguished when checked. You remain in control of accounts and publishing—recommended placements are not presented as backlinks you already have.
Keep your plan moving
Save your project context and return to unfinished work. Supported host schedulers can run agreed, bounded website reviews. Progress records show what happened and what still needs attention. Installing the skill or opening a dashboard does not start a background worker.
Bring BeyondSEO into your existing workflow
Expanded installation guides cover coding agents and website builders alongside existing AI assistants. They preserve your current rules and settings, check the tools actually available and explain any missing access. A successful installation and a successful live crawl are checked separately.
The complete SEO house is still here
The native crawler, SEO and AEO/GEO guidance, business-first competitor research, backlink verification, reputation planning and branded PDF/HTML reports remain included. Browser warnings now explain render deadlines and selector failures more clearly, so incomplete captures do not become misleading findings.
Try asking: “Audit my website, give me a practical plan, and apply the approved improvements while preserving its design. Offer me a private progress dashboard.”
Install or update
Download beyondseo-2.8.0-skill.zip below and follow the installation guide. Use your host's supported replacement/update flow for an existing installation. The matching .sha256 file lets you verify the download. The complete ZIP has 200 files, including its installation receipt.
Validation and limits
- Local regression suite: 239 tests run, 238 passed and one platform-specific skip.
- Code style, documentation links, package checks and release privacy checks passed.
- Live checks exercised skill imports, native crawling and private monitoring in available assistant and website-builder environments. No client captures, private logs or account details are included in this release.
- Live coverage differs by host. Some environments need renewed authentication, an eligible account or working network/browser access. One website-builder capture completed within its page budget but reached its render-readiness deadline; that evidence remains partial.
- Not every agent or platform has been tested. A website-builder test does not establish compatibility with all coding agents. Scheduling needs a real supported scheduler, and no ranking or AI-citation guarantee is made.
MIT licensed. No paid SEO API is required by the native engine; your agent's own usage and hosting terms still apply.
BeyondSEO 2.7.1 — Deeper research, better reports, easier installation
The last 24 hours: deeper research, better reports, easier installation
16–17 September 2026 · A roundup of versions 2.6.0, 2.7.0 and 2.7.1
Give BeyondSEO a website and a goal. It can help you understand the business, inspect the pages, research relevant competitors, assess reputation evidence and turn the findings into a practical plan and a branded client report.
Over the last 24 hours, we improved how those steps work together. Version 2.7.1 completes this update with an installation fix and a ready-to-upload skill package.
01 · Understand the business before choosing competitors
Research starts with the homepage, services, About, Contact and relevant proof. Offices, target markets and website languages stay separate. Queries use relevant buyer phrases and customer questions; candidates are checked against services, customers and commercial intent. Direct competitors, search competitors and international benchmarks have different labels. Weak matches do not fill a quota.
02 · Find sources, then verify the evidence
The skill checks available capabilities: a permitted host browser for Google, available host search and supported native discovery fallbacks. Supplied URLs, saved search-result HTML and source imports remain useful when live discovery is unavailable. The native crawler checks candidate pages, with request limits, failure reasons and coverage preserved.
Backlink comparisons use shared query families and research budgets. A search snippet is a lead, never proof of a backlink. Small or uneven samples cannot become a complete backlink count or an inflated competitive position. The existing 206-entry publishing library remains available for tailored article ideas, destinations and posting plans; source-sheet DR context stays separate from measured evidence.
03 · Turn audits into client-ready reports
The present command exports branded PDF and self-contained HTML using the BeyondSEO logo and black/red palette: an editorial cover, linked contents, evidence tables, source notes and action roadmaps. Findings connect a specific page and observation to an action and a way to verify the improvement. Long audits preserve their business context and all findings. PDF rendering runs locally with a free dependency.
04 · Fix the upload that was stopping installation
Claude Desktop rejected the previous 211-file upload because its limit was 200. Version 2.7.1 contains 196 files, including the installation receipt.
All 17 reporting and industry playbooks remain intact in two indexed resources. The native crawler, catalog, templates and artwork remain bundled. The builder now checks the final count before writing a ZIP, with a regression covering the exact 200/201-file boundary.
05 · Make setup easier to follow
The guide now includes direct upload steps for Claude Desktop and ChatGPT Work, local installation commands for Claude Code, Codex, Hermes and OpenClaw, and the GitHub-URL installation request. Diagnostics distinguish skill registration, Python readiness, browser readiness, target reachability and search access. Browser-download and DNS errors have specific guidance.
Install or update
Download beyondseo-2.7.1-skill.zip from this release. The matching .sha256 asset provides its checksum.
- Claude Desktop / website: Customize → Skills → Add skill → Upload skill. Select the ZIP, save and enable BeyondSEO.
- ChatGPT Work: Customize → Skills → Create → Upload from your computer. Select the ZIP, then open the saved skill and choose Try in chat → Work.
- Claude Code, Codex, Hermes or OpenClaw: use the host-specific installation guide. Existing local installations can use its backed-up update flow.
Use the named skill ZIP for direct uploads. GitHub's automatic Source code (zip) is a developer checkout with a different enclosing folder. Menu labels and availability can vary by account. After installation, ask BeyondSEO to check its runtime before a crawl.
What we verified
- GitHub CI: all six jobs passed on Windows, macOS and Linux with Python 3.10 and 3.12 for this release commit. View the completed checks.
- Automated regression checks: 210 tests ran locally; 209 passed and one Windows-only test was skipped on macOS. Lint, formatting, local references and release-content checks passed.
- Fresh local runtime: setup in an external folder with spaces, Chromium rendering of a fictional local site, and PDF/HTML export passed.
- Claude Desktop: the fixed bundle saved and enabled successfully. Its agent read the version and catalog; the actual doctor output passed HTTP, browser and PDF readiness.
- ChatGPT Work: the fixed bundle saved and loaded successfully, and external Python setup succeeded. Browser downloads encountered timeouts and a gateway error; the bounded website test encountered DNS failure and captured no page. Work browser crawling was not verified as operational in that environment.
- Hermes and OpenClaw: local skill recognition and native runtime readiness passed. These are not full model-driven audit certifications.
Upload acceptance was exercised with the fixed 196-file package before the final documentation-only release edits. Claude Code model execution remained blocked by authentication, and Cowork execution was not tested because of account-plan availability. No permission or safety controls were disabled. The observed upload-size error does not establish the cause of an earlier unexplained Work HTTP 422.
These are bounded checks, not a promise of identical network access or host behavior everywhere. Client data, live captures and private test logs are not part of this release. Public regression fixtures are fictional.
MIT licensed. No paid SEO API, scraping subscription or API key is required by the native engine. Your assistant's own model access and usage still apply.

BeyondSEO 2.7.0 — Deep research and branded reports
BeyondSEO 2.7.0 brings business-first research, fair reputation comparisons and designed client reports into one local workflow.
- Understand the business before comparing it. Inspect the homepage, services, About, Contact and relevant proof, then research comparable providers using natural buyer phrases and customer questions. Keep direct competitors and international benchmarks separate.
- Research through the capabilities actually available. Reuse a permitted host browser for Google, then available host search and native discovery fallbacks. Preserve failures, query context and coverage. The native crawler verifies source pages; search snippets are leads.
- Compare reputation evidence fairly. Shared query families and budgets keep peer research comparable. Weak, incomplete or unequal coverage cannot become an inflated competitive position. The 206-entry posting library supports tailored publishing plans.
- Deliver branded reports. The new
presentcommand exports PDF and self-contained HTML with the existing BeyondSEO logo, black/red palette, a bold cover, linked contents, comparison tables, source notes and action roadmaps. Normal setup includes the free PDF renderer. - Update safely. Skill updates preserve an existing local runtime with backups. Setup, browser readiness, search access, source verification and report export remain separate checks.
Install
This release provides complete source. Download and extract Source code (zip) below, then open the folder containing SKILL.md and scripts (the release archive uses beyondseo-2.7.0). You can also clone the repository. Use the step-by-step assistant guide for Claude, Codex, ChatGPT Work, Hermes and OpenClaw. For upload-based Skills, the guide includes one command to prepare a correctly structured beyondseo/ package. No prebuilt skill upload ZIP is attached to this release.
How crawling works · Deep research and backlinks · Report design and export
Existing Git clones: preserve local work and use a fresh source clone for this version, because historical branch/tag refs were refreshed. The skill installer can then update its separate installation with backups.
Validation and limits
Local validation ran 209 tests: 208 passed and one Windows-only test was skipped on macOS. A clean Python 3.12 installation launched Chromium and exported PDF/HTML from outside the source directory. All pages of a fictional report were visually inspected, including phone-width HTML. All six jobs passed in the CI matrix: Linux, Windows and macOS with Python 3.10 and 3.12.
Runtime and format checks do not certify every host's skill-save service, safety scanner, permissions or network. Hosted Claude/Cowork and ChatGPT Work acceptance remains unverified. Search can still be restricted; available evidence and audit work continue with explicit limits. PDF font limitations retain full HTML. No paid SEO API or subscription is required by the native engine; the assistant's own model usage still applies.
Client reports and live captures remain private. Public regression fixtures and the report-content example are fictional. MIT licensed.
BeyondSEO 2.6.0 — Evidence-based discovery and audits
This legacy release's prebuilt installation assets have been retired. Use the current release and installation guide. Historical source remains available below.
BeyondSEO now separates website crawling from search discovery, understands the business before comparing competitors, and ties material audit findings to captured evidence.
What changed
- Browser-aware agent workflow: reuse an available permitted host browser, including Google navigation when requested. Check runtime readiness before installing missing free Chromium support. No new extension or paid SEO API is required.
- Shared discovery for backlinks and competitors: native DuckDuckGo HTML and Bing RSS adapters, host search/browser records, saved result HTML, supplied URLs and existing CSV imports. Bounded requests, caching, preserved provenance and explicit failure states keep partial audits useful.
- Reviewed business profiles distinguish services, customers, offices, target markets and languages. Competitor selection rejects clear mismatches and separates direct competitors from international benchmarks.
- Material findings include affected URLs, dated evidence, claim type, business impact, action, priority, acceptance checks and coverage limits. Failed or partial captures no longer establish missing content or missing links.
- Diagnostics distinguish browser/runtime problems, execution denial, network failures, provider challenges, empty results and parsing errors. Unknown causes remain unknown.
- SVG graphic titles no longer produce false page-title findings. Existing reputation scoring and the posting-source catalog are preserved.
Validation and limits
166 tests ran locally with one optional test skipped; the suite passed. GitHub CI passed on Ubuntu, macOS and Windows with Python 3.10 and 3.12. Documentation links and the extracted skill bundle were checked. Native HTTP/Chromium crawling, native fallback discovery, source-page verification and host Chrome search were exercised from Codex desktop.
These checks do not certify every agent host. The revised end-to-end workflow remains untested in live Claude Code, ChatGPT Work, Hermes and OpenClaw sessions. Browser access still depends on the host's available tools and permissions. A successful search is a sample, not a complete backlink index or a guarantee of future access. Search snippets are leads until the source page is verified.
Install or update
Follow the agent installation guide for the host-specific steps. Upload hosts should use beyondseo-2.6.0-skill.zip, not GitHub's source archive. Local installations can use the existing installer with --update, which preserves a backup of an unmodified previous installation.
Read browser-assisted search, discovery and competitors, and diagnostics.
This is a beta release under the MIT license. CI results.

BeyondSEO 2.5.0 — Backlink plans for your website
BeyondSEO brings website crawling, SEO strategy, useful content and reputation work into one complete SEO house. Version 2.5.0 adds a publishing directory and practical backlink plans for anyone using the skill.
A backlink plan built for your website
The library includes 206 websites and communities, grouped from 241 source rows. Original source-sheet DR values remain available with their provenance and verification status. The library covers articles, newsletters, professional networks, answers, communities and useful resources.
Ask for 15 or 20 suitable sources and receive:
- Where to publish and why the destination fits your audience.
- A specific topic, writing outline and requested article drafts.
- The page to support, a natural anchor and permitted link placement.
- Posting steps, free terms and account or editorial requirements.
- A realistic calendar and a way to check the result.
Posting guidance for 22 destinations includes dated primary sources. The helper filters by relevance, prerequisites, free-term status and freshness. When too few sources qualify, the skill researches additional opportunities and identifies the remaining gap.
Source-sheet DR is unverified and is not presented as measured DA or a guarantee of authority. Prospective placements stay separate from observed backlinks and the BeyondSEO Reputation Score.
