Versoline v0.5.1
Versoline 0.5.1
Fixes a permission prompt in 0.5.0 and adds a way to take back what the app can reach.
Fixed
- macOS no longer asks "Versoline wants to access data from other apps" every time the app opens. Version 0.5.0 shared the widget's data through an app group, which macOS questions on every launch for an app that is signed ad hoc. The app now writes the widget's snapshot (the unread count and a few headlines) to
~/Library/Application Support/Versoline Widget, a single folder that only the app and its widget are allowed to reach. If you answered the prompt with "Don't Allow" in 0.5.0, the widget works again after this update.
What is new
- Reset Permissions & Access (Settings > Storage): turns off the Dock badge, menu bar icon, Spotlight bookmarks, widget data and nearby sync, and forgets your paired Macs. Your feeds, articles and other settings stay. macOS keeps its own record of permissions such as local network access, and an app cannot clear that from inside its sandbox, so the same section opens Privacy & Security and copies the
tccutilcommand for you. - Show Articles in the Widget (Settings > General): turn it off to delete the widget's data file and leave the widget empty.
Notes
- Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Apple silicon and Intel.
- The app is signed ad hoc. If macOS says the developer cannot be verified, right-click the app and choose Open, or run
xattr -cr /Applications/Versoline.app. Installing with Homebrew avoids this. - The old, empty widget folder from 0.5.0 (
~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.bezelye.Versoline) can be deleted. - Full list of changes: CHANGELOG.

Versoline v0.5.0
Known issue, fixed in 0.5.1: in this version macOS asks "Versoline wants to access data from other apps" every time the app opens. The widget shared its data through an app group, which macOS questions on every launch for an ad hoc signed app. The app still works if you choose "Don't Allow", but the widget stays empty. Please update to 0.5.1.
Versoline 0.5.0
A calendar, a desktop widget, a language setting and Homebrew.
What is new
- Calendar. A month view that shows how many articles arrived on each day and which days have bookmarks. Pick a day to see its articles, or only its bookmarks. It covers the articles still stored on your Mac.
- Widget in three sizes: the unread count and the newest headlines, top stories first. It follows the app's color palette, or you can choose one of the ten palettes for each widget (Edit Widget). Tapping a headline opens the article in Versoline. The widget never uses the network; the app writes one small file when what the widget shows changes.
- Language. Settings > General can pin the app to English or Turkish, or follow the system.
- Homebrew.
brew install --cask bezelye404/versoline/versoline. The tap updates itself when a release is published.
Notes
- The widget's data is the one thing stored outside
~/Library/Application Support/Versoline: a single small file in the app group container (~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.bezelye.Versoline). Factory reset empties it.
- Full list of changes: CHANGELOG.

Versoline v0.4.1
Versoline 0.4.1
A small interface fix.
Fixed
- The counts in the sidebar section headers (Smart Streams, Feeds, folders, Pinned) sat further to the right than the counts in the rows below them. They now line up.
Notes
- Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Apple silicon and Intel.
- The app is signed ad hoc. If macOS says the developer cannot be verified, right-click the app and choose Open, or run
xattr -cr /Applications/Versoline.app. - Full list of changes: CHANGELOG.

Versoline v0.4.0
Versoline 0.4.0
A new reader, fewer duplicate stories, more control over the library, and a fix for memory growth while reading.
What is new
- Native reader. Articles are drawn with SwiftUI instead of a web view, so reading no longer starts WebKit's helper processes. Menus, share bars, related links and ads are removed from the page; the web view is still one click away.
- Reader tools: translate an article on your Mac, highlights and notes on paragraphs, Find in Article (⌥⌘F), continue where you left off, and tables.
- The same story, once. When several of your feeds report the same news, lists show one row with the number of sources, and a Top Stories list shows what three or more feeds are covering. It is computed on your Mac and can be turned off.
- Library: backup and restore, marking older articles as read (by hand or automatically), rules that mark new articles read or bookmark them, a command palette (⌘K) and Focus Mode (⇧⌘F).
- Feeds: add a feed from a site or article address, open
feed://links and OPML files with the app, and feeds that keep failing are retried less often. - Optional: bookmarks in Spotlight, an unread count on the Dock icon, and Shortcuts actions to refresh the feeds and read the unread count.
- Nearby sync between your own Macs now requires pairing with a confirmed six-digit code, and deletions and edits propagate.
Fixed
- Memory grew by about 1 MB for every article read, without limit. Opening 100 articles took the app from 81 MB to 203 MB; it now goes from 48 MB to 74 MB and stays there.
- Podcast downloads could fail or save an error page as an episode.
- Feed Health reported working feeds as broken when their server rejected HEAD requests.
- Several duplicate-identity and library-protection problems (see the changelog).
Privacy
- Site icons are now fetched from the site itself. Earlier versions asked an icon service for them by host name, which told that service which sites you follow.
- Feeds, article pages and images are only fetched over
httpandhttps.
Notes
- Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Apple silicon and Intel.
- The app is signed ad hoc. If macOS says the developer cannot be verified, right-click the app and choose Open, or run
xattr -cr /Applications/Versoline.app. - Versoline imports its data from the earlier easyRSS folder on first launch and leaves that folder untouched.
