Quintess 0.1.0
The first public release of Quintess, a free, open-source PDF reader and editor for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit).
Download Quintess-0.1.0-setup.exe below. It installs for your user account only; no administrator rights needed.
What's in it
- Edit text: change any line or paragraph in place. Paragraphs re-wrap, mixed styles carry through, and new text uses the document's own font when it can. A preview shows what will move.
- Redact for real: text, pictures and shapes under the boxes are removed from the file, then the whole file is checked for leftovers (properties, comments, fields, attachments, hidden entries, earlier versions).
- Sign and protect: digital signatures that stay valid through later edits, verification, AES-256 passwords and permissions.
- Forms: fill, create, detect fields, import/export data, and one filled copy per spreadsheet row.
- Scans and codes: offline OCR (models included) and QR codes read and opened safely.
- Pages, comments, conversion: organize, merge, split, crop, n-up, Bates numbering, comments and markup, compare, export to Word/Markdown/HTML, PDF/A, accessibility fixes.
- Automate: record actions, run them on many files, watch folders, and a 53-command CLI (
quintess). - Languages: shaped Indic scripts, Arabic and Hebrew.
- A built-in user guide (F1), a command palette (Ctrl+K), split view, and an opt-in update check.
Before you install
The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway. To check the download first, compare its SHA-256 with the .sha256 file below:
