Temper v1.0.0
The first release of Temper: cold water, contrast showers and the sauna, tempered like steel.
- Three ways to temper. Cold (a shower, a bath, open water, an ice hole) with calm breathing first, a target time, a guide through the first 30 seconds and warming up after. Contrast showers by voice, with five programs or your own. The sauna and banya with five programs or your own.
- The phone stays outside the sauna. Before you go in it says the clock time to come out and rings every minute after it; tap “I’m out” and it leads the plunge and the rest. Came out long ago and forgot to tap? It asks when.
- A session that runs with the screen off. A foreground service with a voice (the phone’s text-to-speech), synthesised forge sounds (an anvil for heat, a hiss for cold, a countdown and a bell), vibration and a notification with the timer and buttons.
- Your blade. Every session folds a Damascus layer into your own blade; it glows after practice and gathers frost when the forge goes cold. Eight temper colours as levels, from raw iron to steel grey. Share it as a picture.
- Weekly goal after Søberg (11 minutes of cold and 57 of heat) or your own, 24 maker’s marks, five trials (First Ice, Dawn, Contrast fortnight, Eight saunas, Wild water), and a chain that one rest day doesn’t break.
- How hard it is to begin. Rate it before each session and watch the line fall. Energy and mood after, by kind and time of day.
- Safety first. A safety step in onboarding, a cautious time limit by water temperature, and 12 articles on cold shock, afterdrop, open water, sauna rounds, the banya and what the science says.
- The ledger with manual entries, a daily reminder that stays quiet on days you’ve practised, a home-screen widget, JSON backup, English and Russian, ash and forge themes.
