v2.0.0 Change release name, error handling
v2.0.0
Breaking change — update workflow reference from
@v1to@v2for this action and the open-pr action.
Open and close pr actions need to use same major tags (both needs to be on v1 or both need to be on v2)
What's Changed
Release name now includes app name
Helm release names have been updated from pr-{number} to pr-{number}-{app-name} to prevent collisions when multiple apps share a namespace. The app-name input is now used in both the open and close PR workflows.
Improved error handling on Helm delete
Previously, any failure during helm delete was silently swallowed. The action now distinguishes between "release not found" (acceptable, treated as already cleaned up) and unexpected errors (re-raised to fail the job).
Helm 53-character release name limit
If pr-{number}-{app-name} exceeds Helm's 53-character limit, app-name is automatically truncated with a warning. Both the open and close PR actions apply identical truncation logic so the release name is always consistent.
Migration
Environments deployed with @v1 use the old pr-{number} naming convention and will not be cleaned up automatically by @v2. Tear down any active PR environments before switching, or manually delete old releases with:
helm delete pr-{number} --namespace {namespace} --no-hooks
