Job of the scene: pure pain, no product. Fragmented tools, their structure, their servers. The three-panel split at the end is the image Scene 2 answers.
Delivery: matter-of-fact, slightly weary. Pause a beat before "So you plan…"
Most workout apps squeeze your training into their structure — and keep your data on their servers. So you plan in one app, run it in another, and decode it in a spreadsheet.
- Generic app window: dropdown label
Select movement…, wizard headerStep 4 of 9 - Panel labels (Inter):
PLAN·TIMER·SHEET - Marker annotation at 0:11: "three apps, three formats" (≤5 words rule bent once, outline-approved)
- 0:00–0:02 — Board is empty (app background color). A generic gray app window draws itself center-frame (stroke-draw, 1s), then fills flat. No wod.wiki styling — this is deliberately not the product.
-
0:02–0:05 — Athlete (CHAR-1, pose P1) fades in at the window's left, seated. He
clicks the
Select movement…dropdown; a list opens; he scrolls it twice; the list snaps shut. Shoulders drop 4° (the slump — posture only, face unchanged). VO sync: "squeeze your training into their structure." -
0:05–0:07 — A wizard dialog scales in over the window:
Step 4 of 9, a progress bar at 40%, greyNextbutton. Marker hand (CHAR-2) enters from bottom-right, one diagonal cross-out stroke over the wizard, exits. Dialog dims to 40%. - 0:07–0:09 — The window's workout card slides up-right into a generic cloud icon with a padlock. Card disappears inside; padlock clicks shut (small scale pop). VO sync: "keep your data on their servers."
-
0:09–0:12 — Hard rearrange: window, cloud, and dialog slide apart and re-form as
three separate panels across the board —
PLAN(mini calendar),TIMER(standalone clock face),SHEET(grid with hand-typed numbers). Between panels 2 and 3, a circular sync arrow spins once and stops with a small ✗. VO sync: "plan in one app… run it in another… decode it in a spreadsheet" — each panel pulses once as its word lands. - 0:12–0:13 — All three panels shrink to 60% and dim to 50%. Marker annotation writes under them: "three apps, three formats." Hold. Cut on settled frame.
CHAR-1 pose P1; CHAR-2 hand; generic-app mock (Scene-1-only, never reused).
- In: cold open. Out: dimmed panels on board → Scene 2 opens as the board wipes clean (first beat of Scene 2).
- No competitor resemblance: gray chrome only, no logos, no brand colors.
- The cloud + padlock composition is drawn to rhyme with Scene 7's storage beat (browser / own database / Turso) — same screen position, opposite meaning.
