In-admin llms.txt editor on the Settings page. The content is stored in
the database as a single mdf_llms_txt option ({content, modified},
autoload off) and therefore survives plugin upgrades. The editor has a Save
button, a "Reset to default" button that deletes the option, a link to the
site's /llms.txt, and help text noting that served copies may be cached for
up to an hour. When a static web-root llms.txt is detected, the editor shows
the same shadowing warning as the existing admin notice (which is unchanged).
Input handling rejects invalid UTF-8 and content over 64 KiB with a clear
admin error (nothing is stored), strips NUL bytes, normalises CRLF to LF, and
deliberately does not strip tags so markdown autolinks such as <https://example.com> survive. Saved values are displayed via esc_textarea.
Changed
/llms.txt now serves the stored mdf_llms_txt content when non-empty, with Last-Modified taken from the stored timestamp, and otherwise falls back to
the bundled llms.txt exactly as before (file mtime). The bundled file is now
the read-only default template only. GET/HEAD, If-Modified-Since → 304, Content-Length, and the 1-hour public cache are preserved; responses now
also carry X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff.
Action required for existing installations: before upgrading, copy out any
customisations you made directly to the bundled wp-content/plugins/<plugin-dir>/llms.txt file — this upgrade overwrites that
file one final time. After upgrading, paste your content into the new
Settings → llms.txt editor, which stores it in the database so future upgrades
leave it alone.
Removed
The README's instruction to customise llms.txt by editing the file inside the
plugin directory. That is no longer the supported path.
