Fake app in Play Store stole my funds

Why on earth would you change the name of the app and let copycats put fake apps to steal funds?
I changed phones, installed copay from the play store on the new phone and entered my recovery phrase to import the wallet to the new phone. I got an error and found out I lost the funds.
Obviously I should have researched a bit before doing this blindly, but if you change the name of the app without notice and let copycats publish apps on the play store then people like me who don't know much about crypto will get their funds stolen.

Sorry about that but, I don't think there is anything they can do about that.

For me it's too late, but they can do some things to prevent it from happening again:

• Report the fake app in the Play Store
• Display a notification on the old app for users that are still using it
• Send an email to all registered users
• Whatever other ways there are to reach out to users and warn them

I'm lucky I only lost a small amount of money (relatively), but others can lose a lot of money.
