Do not ask for email when creating a wallet

I helped someone with his first wallet and he threw away his backup phrase because he said he already registered his email, and he thought he could recover the money with it.

Not sure why the email is asked in the latest versions, but asking for it not only causes fear to new users about their privacy, but also some of them get confused about Copay being a Bitcoin bank or hosted "wallet" because of it.

Sorry if this is being talked in another issue, I searched for it but didn't find it.

I was now explained by @matiu that this is for notifications only, and always existed, but it was now included on the on boarding.

As a suggestion, could it be better only to ask for it when someone enables that option? I know many people using Copay and none of them use that feature. But I do know people that would close the on boarding when asked for an email address.

Wow, yeah. This is confusing.

If I didn't know anything about Bitcoin this would make me think that my wallet is an "account" on the Copay servers and therefore everything is backed up in the cloud.

Even though there are text warnings, many people skip text warnings / can't read, so they just go off of assumptions based on normal online service tropes.

Email registration on-boarding = account on server.

This should be removed from the on-boarding.

I don't know if you already saw the screen when asking for email. I think that text is clear. Email is optional for any case, but probably could be more useful on desktop (mobile already has push notification).

If people calmly read the screen, it is clear, but sometimes people do not do that. For example, when creating their first wallet they are in a hurry with the guy selling it to them, so they want to do it as fast as possible. And they get confused.

A few weeks ago I had two more users thinking the email was some kind of username. And here a third one (in Spanish, taken from "Bitcoin Argentina" Facebook group):
