preamp 0.1.3

preamp 0.1.3 makes the bar widget load on Omarchy 4.0.6, the current stable release.

Fixed

• The bar widget loads on Omarchy 4.0.6. Before, the shell logged Commons.Translations is not a type, and the widget did not show. The widget now reads its own translations and uses only the shell API that Omarchy 4.0.6 has. Reported in #1.

Changed

• The popover is built the first time you open it, on Omarchy 4.0.6 and on Omarchy 4.5.
• The docs name the minimum Omarchy version, 4.0.6. Troubleshooting has the fix for the old error.

Known issues

• Omarchy on x86_64 does not install rtkit, so audio can break up when the computer is busy. See Troubleshooting.
• The Signal chain view needs a window that is 1096 pixels wide or more.

preamp 0.1.2

preamp 0.1.2 adds six presets, a command for every action, and full docs. The bar widget is now a plain mark in the bar color.

New

• Six presets: Treble boost, Bass cut, Warm, Rock, Movie and Gaming. Keys 1 to 6 keep the everyday presets. A new preset gets key 7 or 8 after you use it, so your headphone profile keeps its key.
• Every action of the window and the bar widget has a command. New commands cover saving and deleting presets, AutoEq search, band type, tone, channel, balance, width, room, app volume, effects and auto-switch rules. preamp watch prints the state and the analyzer as JSON lines. See Command line.
• Docs for the install, presets, the window, the bar widget, output and effects, the command line, the socket protocol, troubleshooting and development. The index is in the README.
• Install with an agent: a prompt and steps that a coding agent follows to install preamp.

Changed

• The bar widget shows only the preamp mark, in the bar color. The tall block dims while the equalizer is off.
• preamp asks RTKit directly for realtime priority. A desktop portal that started before rtkit was installed can no longer make the kernel stop preamp.
• preamp skill install teaches agents the full command line.

Fixed

• The socket command addPlugin takes the effect in the plugin field. Before, a client that waited for the reply sent a number in place of the effect, and the command failed.
• --json can come before the command, as in preamp --json status.

preamp 0.1.1

preamp 0.1.1 keeps your output when another app or a script creates a virtual sink.

Fixed

• A virtual sink that plays into the Omarchy speaker tuning no longer takes preamp's output. Before this release, preamp moved into the new sink and showed a notification for it. Examples of such a sink are a loopback and the sink of another equalizer app.
• A new virtual sink no longer counts as a device that you plugged in. When you connect headphones or an HDMI display, preamp moves to it by the same rules as before.
• When you pick a virtual sink that plays into another one, the preamp volume changes the device at the end of the chain. The volume of each DSP sink in the chain stays at 100%.

The first release of preamp, a system audio equalizer for Omarchy. Every app plays through preamp into your speakers or headphones.
