Breaking: the server no longer needs an SDK, and requirements-mcp.txt is gone.

  • mcp_server.py implements the MCP stdio transport directly as JSON-RPC 2.0 over newline-delimited stdin/stdout: initialize with protocol-version negotiation (2024-11-05 … 2025-11-25), tools/list, tools/call, ping. Standard library only.
  • Tools advertise JSON Schema input schemas and the standard readOnlyHint / destructiveHint / idempotentHint / openWorldHint annotations.
  • Unknown tools answer protocol error -32602; invalid arguments and stale reports answer tool results with isError: true.
  • Previously the server imported mcp.server.fastmcp and published schemas by overwriting SDK-private internals, which pinned it to one SDK generation and made it unstartable on clients that dropped FastMCP.
