First release of Unbranded Handoff, a white-label mu-plugin for WordPress client sites.

Features

  • Login screen: agency logo, link and link text.
  • Client users: risky capabilities removed (updates, plugin and theme install/edit/delete/activate, file editors, language installs), configured menus hidden, quieter admin bar and footer.
  • Dashboard: WordPress news widgets replaced by a "Need help?" support widget.
  • Config file with a fail-safe: with no agency identifier set, nothing is restricted.

Notes

  • Needs WordPress 6.4+ and PHP 8.2+.
  • Tested locally on WordPress 7.1.2 (SQLite, PHP 8.5.11) with PHPCS clean. Run the testing checklist in the README on staging before production use.
  • Install: copy unbranded-handoff.php and the unbranded-handoff/ folder into wp-content/mu-plugins/, then copy config-sample.php to config.php and edit it.
