[Support]: How do I use the Network Storage in HA which is mapped to a TrueNAS NFS share to store my Frigate clips and recordings

Describe the problem you are having

Frigate is working well but is filling up my local storage. I'm running HAOS on a Proxmox VM. The Frigate add-on in HA is storing clips and recordings to /media/frigate/clips, etc. That sits on the Proxmox server. How do i change to force storage on the NFS share instead.

Thanks, but I’ve followed these steps to the letter multiple times. It seems as if the add-on or HAOS is hijacking the storage location. I’ve added the network storage in HA, tested it by writing files to it via terminal and the pve shell, and have included the mount path in the fstab file. The clips are still being written to local storage /media/frigate/clips and not to my network storage 192.168.1.xxx/mnt/NewPool/Frigate. I mounted the NFS share in Proxmox, then give the VM a separate drive backed by that NFS storage, which can then mount as you see fit within your VM.

Did your Frigate add-on in HA then start writing the the NFS? I was able to mount the NFS drive in the HAOS vm running on Proxmox, but that didn't change the location the files were writing to even though I followed the link instructions numerous times. I could just be an idiot, but I wonder - are you running HAOS in a VM on Proxmox and getting the files to be written to the Truenas NFS share?

I tried with a Truenas Scale NFS share with root as the group and user. I was able to map to the pve and modified my fstab under the pve, but when I try to add the hard drive in the Home Assistant VM, the only option is local-lvm. Are you using HAOS on your VM? If so what steps did you take. Thanks. You need to add the NFS share from TrueNAS to Proxmox as a storage entry (at Datacentre level in the Proxmox interface)

When you do this, you need to be sure to add Disk Images to the list of things you can store on it.

Then, once this is working, you should be able to create a disk on that storage and assign it to your VM.
