Windows 11: ACP adapter installation fails for both Claude Code and Codex

Environment:

• Windows 11 x64
• Buzz Desktop v0.4.22 (x64 setup alpha unsigned)
• Node.js v22.22.2
• npm 10.9.7
• Claude Code 2.1.217: installed and runnable from PowerShell
• Codex CLI 0.145.0: installed and runnable from PowerShell

Steps:

1. Install Buzz Desktop v0.4.22 on Windows.
2. On “Set up your agent harnesses”, Buzz detects Claude Code and Codex.
3. Click INSTALL for either agent to install the ACP adapter.

Expected:
ACP adapter installs successfully.

Actual:
Both cards show “Installation failed”.

Relevant main-process logs:
Unknown channel: agentHostClientByokLm
Unknown channel: agentHostClientProxy

The agents directory only contains managed-agents.json and retention.db; no adapter files are created.

Install [Git for Windows] (https://git-scm.com/download/win)

then open PowerShell as admin:

install NodeJS:
winget install OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS

update your system's execution policy to allow locally written scripts to run:
Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Scope LocalMachine

then install codex:
npm install -g @openai/codex

and the codex acp:
npm install -g @agentclientprotocol/codex-acp

then install Claude:
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code

then the claude acp:
npm install -g @agentclientprotocol/claude-agent-acp

re open the Buzz app and it should now find it

Thanks! Your suggestion actually helped narrow down the issue a bit.

After installing the ACP adapter manually with:

npm install -g @agentclientprotocol/codex-acp

Buzz no longer showed:

CLI detected; ACP adapter missing

Instead, it changed to:

ACP adapter detected but outdated — reinstall required

So Buzz is able to detect the globally installed ACP adapter.

However, when I click Install to update/reinstall it, the installation still fails and the UI changes to "Installation failed".

So it looks like the detection works correctly, but the ACP update/reinstall step is failing.

The version i installed is 1.1.5, but when i checked the npm latest acp version it is showing 1.1.4 i guess something is missing in npm accordin to me

I suspect the issue is the same and independent of Windows or Linux. Here's a Linux screenshot:

No Console output. No idea how to debug further.
