Core Rule
If a player leaves the table during a hand, the game continues as if the player is still seated and active. All actions are handled via the standard shot clock timeout logic.

Action Handling Logic

Player Leaves During Hand
Player remains active in the hand
Cards, seat, and position are preserved
Player is not immediately folded
Shot Clock Enforcement
When action reaches the absent player:
Standard shot clock is triggered (including time bank if applicable)
Timeout Behavior

Case A: No Bet to Call (Checked To Player)

If the player does not act before the shot clock expires:
→ Auto-check

Case B: Facing a Bet

If the player does not act before the shot clock expires:
→ Auto-fold
Street-by-Street Continuation
This logic repeats on every street (Preflop, Flop, Turn, River):
If checked to the player → auto-check on timeout
If facing a bet → auto-fold on timeout
Multi-Street Behaviour Examples

Example 1:

Player leaves on flop
Action checks through → player auto-checks
Turn: opponent bets → player times out → auto-fold

Example 2:

Player leaves on flop
Flop checks through → auto-check
Turn checks through → auto-check
River checks through → auto-check
→ Player reaches showdown
Showdown Behaviour
If the player has not folded:
Their hand proceeds to showdown as normal
Standard showdown rules apply
Constraints
Leaving the table must NOT trigger an immediate fold
Player must not gain any advantage by leaving
Behaviour must be identical to a player timing out while seated
Edge Cases

All-In

If the player is already all-in, normal all-in rules apply

Rejoining Mid-Hand

If the player returns before their turn, they regain full control

Acceptance Criteria

Scenario 1 – Checked To Player
Given a player leaves during a hand
When action reaches them with no bet
And the shot clock expires
Then the system auto-checks

Scenario 2 – Facing a Bet
Given a player leaves during a hand
When action reaches them facing a bet
And the shot clock expires
Then the system auto-folds

Scenario 3 – Multiple Streets
Given a player leaves on the flop
When action is checked to them across multiple streets
after the shot clock expires
Then they auto-check each time until showdown

Scenario 4 – Bet Introduced Later
Given a player has auto-checked previous streets
When a bet is made on a later street
And action reaches them
Then timeout results in auto-fold

Scenario 5 – No Immediate Fold
Given a player leaves during a hand
Then they are not folded immediately
